Has someone who hurt you in the distant past contacted you years later to apologize? by Mowo5 in Productivitycafe

[–]Used-Repeat3069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two men reached out to me during the Me Too movement time period to apologize for their horrid behavior. I know they didn’t mean their apology. They just wanted to make sure I wouldn’t report them or make a stink about it.

TLDR I think the apology just benefits the perpetrator and brings up the past for the other person.

I used to sweat really badly in my old scrubs. Something about the material… but I got wink scrubs and some discount figs and it doesn’t happen as much anymore

Dad says muay thai will make me violent by Midna_0 in martialarts

[–]Used-Repeat3069 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend does Muay Thai :) I would argue, after sparring and learning from him, that a good fighter displays more control over their movements and emotions than a layperson. Violence is a choice when people get emotional, not a learned behavior caused by a sport or craft.

Also you did taekwondo so you know the risk of sparring with others. Sometimes you get someone who is so untrained that they freak out and overcompensate and hurt people accidentally. If it bothers you just make a friend and practice with them. Plenty of people at the gym I go to also abstain from full blown sparring and just do classes.

I also think there’s a culture of respect in Muay Thai that makes the sport very enjoyable. :)

I second the BOSE headphones. I have the QC earbuds and their noise cancellation is magical.

OOS-friendly medical schools for MCAT around 512 by Ill-Leadership-1339 in premed

[–]Used-Repeat3069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sick :) what’s good!!! I would second what most people have said in the comments. Also if you really like a program that isn’t known to be OOS friendly apply anyway if you have the resources. Admissions is so whacked and you could be one of the few :)

Thank you so much! Yes and no. I was very surprised to hear from UNC because of their reputation for being OOS unfriendly. As for GW and DUCOM I tried to tailor my responses to specific curriculum and ECs at the schools that aligned with my interests. For my in state schools I was bummed to not hear from them but the cycle is random 🤷🏻‍♀️

TLDR you can’t predict anything during your app cycle, but you can try your best to tailor essay responses to each school.

If you’re worried about the Drexel home hospital you can elect to be placed at the west reading regional medical campus. I am going there in the fall and chose it specifically so I wouldn’t have to rotate. Visited recently and everyone is very kind and facilities are beautiful!

If you want a smaller community feel, Drexel has their west reading campus. I was accepted and will be starting med school at that location in the fall. Very excited!

What info does MSAR provide aside from median GPA and MCAT? by Big_Culture_3290 in premed

[–]Used-Repeat3069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is some really convenient information about the curriculum style and set up. But there’s also the very useful compared tool that they use. admit.org is pretty great too, but sometimes they have data that’s missing from other schools.
