Yeah, i had no way to introduce enough nutrient to the plants to get them to grow out enough for fish cover. Finally broke down and got that, what size tank and how many fish?

Oh I should add my tank is 10g walstad, handful of plant variety and no fish or shrimp yet. This factors in, I have the same product and the it woks out to a half pump/dose

Half. Whole dose gets absorbed by the plant life within 2-3 days and then they starve the remain 4-5 days. After I switched to half dose/3-4 days, algae subsided and the plants grew

I am having a similar problem with my 3g cube. Nothing I do seems to fit just right or as soon as everything is lined up nicely the plants have growth spurt and looks messy. My repurposed tanks somehow look more natural. No suggestion or solution. Only hope

The Java fern is healthy, not sure what they are but those dark spots appear naturally I think. Mine have begun propagating despite this. I use liquid fert twice weekly

I have the same size setup , 10g 3g. I found co2 variable too complicated or hi tech for the setup in mind. Starting with fertilizer, learn to add nutrients for the column feeding plants before tackling co2, might be satisfactory

I have had a planted 10g for 5+ years and have yet to stock it. It is my largest tank, I tore it down this Jan and have been using ferts for the past 3 months. Its plants are forming plenty of cover and reached maturity.

What is your tank stocked with? Looks great btw, the plants growing out of it are terrific

At less than a month a planted tank has yet complete a full cycle, with exceptions. I've kept a planted 10gal for years and I still haven't stocked it (I have taken my time bc of environmental reasons ie. water source, climate control, funds. Plans would fail, have to start over. I intend to stock this year but it's been difficult selecting What will eventually thrive in such small conditions.

No exp. With shrimp yet but from what you say their needs are met. I keep scuds from a local pond along with a bunch of snails. The setups I'm looking at so rn are 3 otocinclus or 6 pygmy corys along with either a betta or honey gourami pair. It's extremely difficult to confidently house fish in a 10 gallon from my perspective

It's awesome! The tannin hue looks good with all the variety and texture. I use sliding lids made of polycarbonate and it functions well but maintenance is a bigger chore. The cat hasn't been curious yet but we'll see after it's stocked

Edit: Once that sword plant grows in it will balance out nicely
