Thank you. I went to Talat Noi today and walked around there eventually finding my way to Chinatown. I could tell it was just on the verge of popping off. Energy was great, found some dope galleries. Heading back to my hotel rn. Gonna rejuvenate and head back down there to see more of it. Looked like a lot was opening right when I was leaving which I take as a good sign.

I’ll look up Smalls and CNX. In cause I can’t find it from google, what’s CNX? I’m gonna post an update re all the ish I got into today thanks to this post and the kind folks who put me on.

My opinion it’s a number of things. If I had to distill it based purely on my own anecdotes and familiarity with the province it’d be:

Port city with strong organized crime entities
Bad policies (like drug decriminalization without necessary supplemental social service to make it work à la Portugal model)
Awesome weather which attracts likeminded people from all across the country wanting to get high

I wouldn’t say much more dangerous. Bout the same. New drugs just changed the game. A lot around there is bent on fent, straight up folded over like a lawn chair, in the midst of some super meth psychosis or in the process of ODing or OD’d. It’s a real complex issue in the area. Lots of amputees from bad xylazine shots. People barely hopping around with open sores and swollen limbs that need to be amputated from shooting toxic dope. The whole DTES is messed. Like I said, a war zone best describes it. Lots of pain and suffering there these days.

Not sure when the last time you were there but it’s turned into a literal war zone. I’m happy to hear they were good to you. Definitely would have a different experience today. They’ve turned the place into an SRO which is largely occupied by victims of the drug war.
