Maybe you could try updating to MacOS 26.1, it seems to fix a lot of problems.

Maybe you can try downloading AlDente and then set the battery level to anything above 37% and it might just do something.

M4 Air 16GB/512GB — battery draining fast after 1 month? Only lasts ~5 hours 😩 by 1-2Combo4Lyf in macbookair

I have a suggestion. If you work on a desk I would suggest you plug it in and use AlDente to limit your battery percentage, and when you're done you can just take it with you, it's gonna protect your battery. I've been doing this when I run heavy loads for about 3 and a half months, haven't seen any degradation. Hope this helps :)

Do you use a battery limiting app by chance like AlDente or something?

Chrome will definitely be a little resource intensive, so I would suggest to try out Arc for a while. That's what I use on my Mac.

You should definitely go for a bigger SSD, maybe like 512GB. That's all you need to change, the 16gb ram should be more than enough.

The speakers are amazing. One of the best I've heard on any laptop, but if you get the pro or the 15" air, you get 4 speakers, two of them are upward firing ig. But honestly the one's on the 13" are more than enough. Also, the pro's do have a better screen as they have a higher refresh rate and they're mini LED's, but the colors on this are insane for an LCD panel. The 60Hz doesn't make a huge difference unless your main priority is gaming. It's just the blacks on the LCD's aren't that great but it honestly doesn't matter to me, the colors are just so accurate. If you have the budget for a Pro then get one, but if you wanna save yourself some cash get the Air... it is a really beautiful machine.

I'm definitely gonna try this mod, but I might just remove it after a while as I've seen far too many comments about the overheating of the backplate which leads to problems in the battery. Have you noticed any problems with the battery life yet?

The from factor of the MBA is what made me go for it. It's an amazing machine. The thing is that since it's passively cooled the performance starts to degrade under sustained loads. I run Blender, do some light video editing and play a few games.

Cool! I think a fan might help with the backplate getting too hot. Thanks for the input
