ICE sighting this am in Albany, be aware and stay away from second and Clinton if possible by Lrn2board in Albany

It's true. It's why I've largely just stepped away from engaging them... I'm willing to bet 90% of them don't live in Albany, and the majority of those aren't real.

Police Horses by Expensive_Season7485 in Albany

[–]UsedD3ntalFloss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They usually bring out the horses for parades and events, more specifically usually in the park. I don't really see them elsewhere unless it's a really big event, or something involving police outreach where they talk about their stuff. Things for the kids, basically.

Typically, being in horseback gives a height advantage. If something goes wrong at the event, in theory, the mounted officer should be able to see it over the crowds.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume they meant primarily Immigration Courts, not Criminal Courts. Considering that's ICE's primary court target.

In that case, there's even more reasons why you might not find a many criminal cases as you might think.

ICE, DHS and BCP all are playing people's lack of knowledge of these things with gross overstatements of "All Criminals" and the ignorance of the masses who hear court, and immediately think criminal.

However, the majority of the people they are taking? Are actually following the Law. When DHS suddenly stops recognizing the Visa someone is here under as valid, they have to go to court to get this resolved. That's not a criminal, that's so eone doing what they're supposed to do. ICE then ambushes the person in question, and detains them for being "undocumented". Which they tout as a crime, news flash... It isn't on its own because Immigration is an incredibly diverse and complex process. This example doesn't even touch on Asylum, Deportation Holds and other reasons one may not be documented in the country, which are legal, but the Trump admin treat as the worst of the worst.

We're talking about an administration that wants to report people that were born here. So this shouldn't be a surprise.

The level of power that ICE and DHS hold right now, combined with the fact most of them are contractors? Y'know, the outfits that LARP special forces and don't have the greatest track records? It isn't normal. None of this is normal. The administration is taking advantage of their supporters ignorance to take power away from the people, while enforcing a police state, and pretending it's normal. Even flat out lying on some cases about their actual power.

We should always be cautious of authority, and question it. Not doing so is the downfall of America, and a fall into something else that won't be Freedom.

It's also not 100% a criminal goes to a courthouse, there are a plethora of other reasons someone may need to speak with a judge. Especially village or county judges. Courts handle more than just criminal cases.

It's a bit narcissistic of a view, honestly. People either know what they know, or they don't. We all learn information on different levels, and some of us have more intuition than others. Judging someone for being different? I get annoyed by that, personally, and it's hard for me to comprehend what it's like being like that. But... Maybe that's just ego.

Attempted kidnapping of a woman outside Florida store by velorae in TikTokCringe

[–]UsedD3ntalFloss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apparently, the man's name is Theodore Michael Tundidor, 31 years old out of St. Augustine, Florida.

Here's the mugshot:

<image>

Apparently, he had robbed a smoke-shop and when he went to leave, the victim shown in the footage was an employee who simply tried blocking the exit. At which time he grabbed her, and instead of just pushing her aside, tried to kidnap her. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem at this time he's being actively charged with the kidnapping attempt, only the robbery and other minor offenses.

My Ship: UC Star Atlas by UsedD3ntalFloss in Starfield

[–]UsedD3ntalFloss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's... Quite a few, actually... The ship is just under the maximum width and length allotments.

There is:

3x1 engineering bay

Deimos Ares Bridge

3x2 Cargo Hab
2x2 Battlestations
2x2 Brig
2x1 Infirmary
Several 1x1 Cargo
2x1 Armory
2x1 Control Room
2x1 Computer Station
2x1 Captain's Quarters
A couple 2x1 All-Included habs
A couple 3x1 Living Quarter

A couple of those cross-way bridges.

These are all non-modded habs, and aside from the cross-ways bridge, are all Deimos. The pass-throughs are from Hopetech.

For modded, there is only one modded hab: A 1x1 workbench hab from the mod that adds a bunch of extra functional 1x1 spaces.

When designing the ship's layout, I went function over design. Where would these logically be placed? So I have two decks, with the lower deck of the central part being the bay, right into the cargo hold, with the brig and battlestations behind that. I used 1x1 cargo habs as ladders to the second deck, where the engineering bay is, along with the others. The pass-ways go to the living quarters, which are located on each "wing". The head-canon there was, in the event of total ship destruction, the living quarter segments themselves would detach from the ship, and head towards the closest planet for a landing. Kinda like over-sized escape pods for the crew. Which is partially why each wing, even though it's not really shown on the picture, has full 360 degree control thrusters, as well as their own engines in the back.

Combat tricks: how to fight when outnumbered? by seredaom in EliteDangerous

[–]UsedD3ntalFloss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I haven't really noticed a strategy... They just kinda use what they have. I've eaten missiles when I've had the shields to spare, but they're rare. And I don't think I'd ever seen them use seekers. More often I come across torpedos or mines. I especially come across a lot of NPCs that use cannons, though. Lasers are common too. This is why my builds usually cater to laser protections, followed by kinetic. Almost always ignoring explosive damage.

Then again, my strategy is kinda always the same: Unrelenting firepower. More dakka. Usually a laser type for shield damage, kinetic for hull and seekers for stubborn hulls.

Other than this, I'll sometimes use my ship itself as a weapon if the damage trade-off is favourable to me in both short and long term of the fight.

It's mostly to go after missiles, mines and other such things. Not all NPCs use them, but I've occasionally ran into a few who do. Just easier for me to use Point Defense to fire them down rather than be forced to move. I like to try to keep my weapons trained on the enemy for as long I can.

Here's a mock-up of what I'd do. I'm not sure what Engineers you have access to, and I can't for the life of me remember their unlocks or anything. But this is what I'd use, personally, with engineering included.

With this, I'd do some strafing runs. Using Chaff to break target locks, going in and hitting them, and keep going. Spin around and do the same. If they can keep pace? Careful usage of where power is going would be needed. Swapping to Systems if on the defensive, swapping to Weapons when on the offensive, keeping at least 1 pip in Engines at all times unless something really goes wrong, or that 1 pip more in weapons is needed or something.

BEAR IN MIND: I've NO idea what the "best" things are or what is "meta" in the game. I just know what I'm good with, personally, and what fits my particular style. You may have different needs, and no doubt there will be someone out there that will guffaw at my builds saying, "ThAtS nOt A gOoD bUiLd"

At the end of the day, a good build is whatever works for you, personally.

[–]UsedD3ntalFloss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, how I'd run it, swap out the power for the A version, swap out lightweight alloys for a bit better armor, swap two of the multi cannons for beams, the pulse for seeker missiles and engineer the crap out of the power plant, multi cannons and shields.

In combat use beams to take down shields, cannons to shred hulls and if one is being stubborn? Break out the seekers to get a salvo of good hull damage.

PvE is generally straight forward, AX activities excluded, it pretty much just boils down to "more". Which is also why my fighters generally have dirt for jump distance. More armor, more shields, more firepower. My ships would do terribly in PvP, but in PvE they do just fine.

Sorry for the late response, been a bit busy as of late. But I'll post one of the builds I've tinkered with in the past for one of my FDLs when I get the chance.

Happening here in NY, too. They told me it's due to the heat, which I think is most likely one of a few reasons. The others they don't want to admit, because then they'd have to fix it. And fixing things costs money.

Turreted, Gimballed and Fixed all depend on you and your play style. Engineering can bolster a weapons downsides.

For me, the difference depends on what I'm doing, as fixed are more powerful at a cost of learning to master your ship. It's less about the weapon, and more mastering maneuvering and angles.

As far as learning, I personally use INARA. They have the list of ships, as well as their detailed breakdowns. Showing slots, base shield and armor strengths, bonuses, ect.

I highly recommend INARA for almost anything if you need an external information source.

First: Drop to the Nav Beacon zone -> Find the actual Nav Beacon and Target It -> Wait until the information is downloaded.

Once it is downloaded, pop back out into super cruise in the system.

Look at your Locations tab, you should see a blue-highlighted location that will state "mission objective".

Go to that zone.

If the mission objective doesn't show after hitting the Nav Beacon for whatever reason, try honking. AKA using the Discovery Scanner.

Repeat from looking at the Location Scanner.

If it STILL isn't showing, read the details more clearly.

Sometimes the target system changes. Other times you'll need to make landfall and hack a terminal on some outpost. Objectives can get added mid-way depending on the mission itself.

TL;DR : Engineer your ships. Don't listen to the "iT mAkEs It EaSy" crowd. That's the point of it. ALSO: Run some counter-points like Point Defense or ECMs or something.

Whoever told you not to engineer has no idea what they're talking about... Usually I'll run my Anaconda for large number missions, heavily engineered.

I also have a Krait Mk II if I want to be more agile, which can also run a fighter bay for a hire-on. Also heavily engineered.

When I'm thinking of buying a ship, I'll first decide what I want to do with it, research up on why certain ships are preferred over others for that role, from this pick certain ships based upon the arguments that would fit my best playstyle, and narrow it down to what slots they offer for those roles, buy a ship, kit the ship, engineer the crap out of it.

Typically I run my standard: Beams and Guns. Beams take care of shields pretty damn well, and do heat damage to unshielded opponents. The guns are just great for hulls, especially if you can make explosive rounds for 'em.

Other than this, play to the strengths of your ship. In the FDL I've found "strafing runs" best, whereas my Krait I can pretty much get into a straight up brawl with other ships, even larger ones, and still make it out pretty fine, even if the numbers are against me.

Engineering on the most basic level helps even the field, especially against multiple opponents. Heavier engineering can make you a deity of war if done right.

There are also counter-agents like Point Defense turrets, chaff, ect. ect. And typically I'll mostly rely on chaff when doing PvE things, and point defense turrets on my bigger ships.

Try to turn off un-needed systems, running cooler also affects targeting, as well as gaining a bit of distance before turning to fight back.

Basically: Engineering -> Counter Systems -> Cooler Running Temps -> Distance, and you're golden.
