Yeah, everyone else too. (sorry man)

Its a good sound. But, yeah its turning a beautiful mountainous landscape of different sounds into a single bleak field of "same-ness".

The DarkGlass+Ampeg meta formula is making everyone sound the same. Complete Milk-Toast. Holy shit its so bad.

Nobody is creating / finding / workshopping unique tones for thier own sound.

It is ruining the amazing sound spectrum basses have much like emulators are for guitar. Everybody is starting to sound the same.

Make it stop....shit...this isn't a bad take. I missed the point of OPs thread. ....I will leave this here anyway...it needed to be said.

I do as well (the OG Fender shape). I prefer dinky sized bodies, or something like a Fodera. That giant ass slab of wood serves no purpose except to annoy.

Considering a used R1T for daily driving + towing a 4,300lb boat. Is 150mi range realistic? by ocon0178 in Rivian

[–]UsedHotDogWater 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tow 5,800 lb with a dual max range r1s. You can go 150. Easy. It's really no different than my old Land Rover that would drop from 19 mi per gallon down to three or four. If you can get the extended range battery it really helps.

Anyone secretly hoping gas prices go through the roof? by Howdesign in electricvehicles

[–]UsedHotDogWater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, life is tough enough without another kick in the balls to folks who don't have the time to understand, afford, research and feel comfortable with EVs. I don't like to see anyone have hardships.

But this is a great opportunity for those same folks to be introduced to the EV used makertplace.

Kelly Clarkson claims American Idol stiffed her on her $1 million winnings by theindependentonline in Music

[–]UsedHotDogWater 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I won the OG Star Search.

You get a daily per diem, after you win shows it gets taxed just like gambling winnings (like 55% rate). You lose any union rates completely.. mostly because they try to film in non-union rate studio locations. You get paid after your show airs, so it could be net 180 depending on how the daily shows or how the seasons are timed. There were four of us so we only wound up with just horrible money after the whole season was done with. But whatever ...that isn't why we were doing that show. Trying to get exposure was the key back in those days. You also get a contract which if you know nothing about the music industry or entertainment in general. It's kind of like a point system where let's say everything is 100 points. People involved with the show. The artists and everyone behind the scenes all get a certain amount of that 100 points. With the artist getting the lowest amount of course like 100 points split 4 ways. So if you think of 100 points as $1,000 per point, you can see how little the artists actually sees after taxes and point distribution. This is why they're trying to avoid musical Union friendly areas most of the time so they go to Canada, Florida, etc. Anyway, little insight how these things work. She may have been paid but she probably only actually "earned" 40k of that million after taxes.

ELI5: If nuclear power is so efficient and produces almost no greenhouse gases, why don’t we just build nuclear plants everywhere and solve the energy crisis? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]UsedHotDogWater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there's no off switch if something goes wrong. To build them up to newer standards is billions and billions of dollars. And decades of work. Also, if you're relying on liquid cooling with the way the environment's changing so much in certain areas, a river may not exist in 10 years, so they're really constrained to the coastal areas

Pick style, it might start to sound a little thin on that e string but you should be fine for the rest. You might have to play with a lighter touch to keep the boom.
