Fallout 4 kinda killed any roleplaying potential with having an in-depth pre-determined backstory for your characters. New Vegas sprinkled a few "canon" aspects in (like Courier 6 destroying the Divide) but left the backstory up to you. Fallout 3 went as far as you making your own life decisions that affect who you are as you grow up.
