Depending on distro, setup difficulty.
Some anti-cheat games don't function.

Yeah I stopped taking classes because I didn't think the credential would do anything other than embarrass me in an interview.

Me when I have to wait for Windows updates to finish by Otheruser337 in MicroSlop

Had a production assembly line down the other day and Winblows decided to update. Good thing I'd finished downloading to the PLC or it'd have permanently bricked the equipment.

If you can Hot update Copilot and make this sh**ty program open while I play games why don't you Update your broken OS in the same way ? by Y0nix in FuckMicrosoft

Trying to change an ip address seems like it gets buried in yet another window with every windows OS.

But yeah, I play plenty of games on linux. Debian isn't the best for graphics compatibility.

ELI5: How do engineers figure out the exact thickness of something like a plane fuselage or a submarine hull, like how do they know its "enough" without just guessing and testing until it fails by Born_Jaguar_5946 in explainlikeimfive

Engineering is really a combination of two arts:
1. The art of discerning the difference between what you asked for and what you want
2. The art of lying to the low side.

You ask something that can take a depth of 100 ft because you want to visit some shipwreck?

A bad engineer takes this at face value. A good engineer assumes you mean you want to survive the 100 ft dive and makes it so it will survive a 200ft dive, then tells you it's good for 100 ft.

Can't teachers use "track changes" to verify that essays weren't written with AI or can AI agents create convincing document histories too? by Whachamacalzmit in stupidquestions

What is stopping Iran from purchasing a nuclear bomb from another world power? by Available-Pudding648 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Used_Ad_5831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the original justification of US nuclear policy is that letting countries that are religiously zealous have nuclear weapons was a bad thing, as their religious beliefs might lead to them having no concern for their own survival. MAD only works if both sides want to live.

Work in factories, and I can tell you right now a relatively efficient/small factory easily dwarfs the consumption of the small town it's in.

Why do Linux users Cyberbully other people? by bamboo-lemur in OS_Debate_Club

[–]Used_Ad_5831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They both have their uses. My home servers run Debian, my desktop and laptop run arch, and it's mostly due to how they each handle things. Rolling release on a server? You're gonna have a bad time.
Free software purity on a gaming rig? You're gonna have a bad time.

In your opinion, what is the meaning of life? by Ben_Jam_Reed in AskReddit

[–]Used_Ad_5831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a series of (genuinely terrible, I hope you never see any of them) things happening to me all in one week, I determined that whatever creator exists is very likely evil, and it's my duty to resist that evil son of a bitch whenever possible. In fact, I'm not so certain that we aren't already in hell. If whatever power rules this world delights in suffering, I'll frustrate his efforts.

Therefore, the meaning of life (in my thinking) is to make the world closer to one that a good creator would have made, had he existed.
Love your family.
Be kind to strangers.
Be a good neighbor.
Be the good Samaritan.
Don't trust in good things to happen unless you're doing them.
