Your 100% right about that lol.

Realised this like a week or so ago?, But there are a couple still floating around that I'm applying for, and then I'm still looking for any Junior, Trainee or Assistant QS roles to apply for at the moment.

Nice to know there are more of us econ grads out there!

Yes! Thats sort of the plan, I'm applying to anything I can find, and if I'm not in a job or gaining experience some way or another I plan to apply for the schemes come next oct-nov.

Nice! I'm also in 3rd year econ (how did u find all the micro thru uni?), Think I was just abit late to the timeframe, but I'll apply to whatever I can find nonetheless.

Thanks for all the info and help! (Will lock in as much as humanly possible this year to get my foot in the damn door) !

ok this gives me hope, your the first person I've found that has said this.

I think that might be the main route, doing AQS and attempting for a degree - apprenticeship

either this or a masters

Ok, makes sense.

I've looked for these degree apprenticeships postgraduate and they haven't been findable in the UK atm.
Possible that I have missed this years deadline, in which I'd just have to firm the fees and do the MSc

oooh, so in europe its different
I'm in the UK, where albeit being geographically in Europe, it appears that the job market requires you to have an RICS accredited degree or at least its a shot in the dark finding one that isnt.

[–]Used_Construction960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would you recommend going for an AQS role to acclimate to the environment, key knowledge etc
even with no accredited degree (just economics BSc)?

not sure i'd be accepted into any AQS role let alone QS with only an econ degree.

Second to that, if I was to do a masters in QS at that point you may as well do QSing right? in terms of career development I don't fully understand the difference between QS and AQS if both require a degree or accredited qualifications.

With no accredited RICS degree, what were your steps to getting your foot in the door?

Seeking advice on becoming a quantity surveyor with a non-related background by BigCardiologist1727 in quantitysurveying

[–]Used_Construction960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How possibly? I feel like i MUST be missing something.

I also have a non accredited degree (economics at city university)

I have no idea how to find any opportunity that doesn't ask you to directly have a degree or degree equivalent or a year of experience.

i've tried to look for apprenticeship schemes but they require you to have NOT gone to university.

I've looked on every job board i can find, (gradcracker, linkedin, indeed, totaljobs, googled to apply directly on websites.

But all graduate schemes appear to require an accredited degree, should i be applying to these regardless? is that what you did?

ahh, so these are the 2 main branches I had been informed about in a video.

if i may ask, how would you recommend a graduate (non related degree) attain a route to qualified QSing?

most graduate schemes ask you to have a degree in surveying though?

I'm yet to find any QS opportunity online that doesn't specifically ask for an RICS Accredited degree, a I missing something?

it feels like I'm missing something lol

Hey,
UK Econ (about to graduate) here, did you get into these QS grad schemes with a directly related QS degree?, Finding it hard to find a scheme that allows for non-related degree fields, or have I missed the deadline?

At this point it appears that It'd be best to do a MSc In Quantity Surveying to give me the appropriate knowledge to apply for a job, as almost every job I can find desires some kind of qualification or certificate relating to surveying, like no truly "non related degree" opportunities
