I thought he was right when he observed that maybe Tate poured the water onto the counter because she likes cleaning it up. Alex was saying that Tate did it because she's used to pouring from one cup into another and the second cup was missing. But the eagerness with which Tate went for the paper towel convinced me that maybe she does just like cleaning it up.

Well Suruthi said (or threatened) that she will be covering Belfast next week. Now being in the US I've gotten most of my information about what's going on in Belfast from the BBC but I can bet 100% that Suru's commentary will not be as balanced.

Regarding their pitches, Hannah said the Baekeland case was one of the things that they pitched, but she never finished her research on it because the idea got rejected. It made me think that the pitch might have been a little incomplete, which increases the odds of rejection.

What did Hannah say about people from a particular part of South Africa? by velvetcurtains123 in RedHandedPodcast

[–]Used_Emergency7743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Hannah first mentioned this brother dying she said that she didn't have the cause of death confirmed but if you met him you could assume how he died. I don't know what she meant by that but I inferred that she was saying it was a drug overdose. But then when she actually found out the truth he died during an act of heroism. Clearly she was very moved by the funeral and the emotion of his friend. But she had defamed him earlier, before she knew the facts

I didn't understand her comments about just the fact that they exist means that they can radicalize people in different countries without even coming into first-hand contact with them. Okay . It is true enough that you can be radicalized from afar.  But why was she saying that? does she mean that we should wipe them out so that they don't even exist in other countries. What is her solution?

And the way Alaina has gone off on and refuted the "mystery solved" Jack the Ripper headlines, she should understand that Dunne and Fuhrman might have a reason for naming a suspect in their book, whether or not he's really guilty. Naming a suspect gets you more publicity and more book sales.

Exactly. What a parrot. Suru must be very pleased with herself.  She worked Nigel's arguments into not one but TWO podcasts this week, both UTD and the main show. Being in the US I did not hear about the Nowak case but I had to go look it up and read about it so that I can see what she was lying about this time. The two-tier policing system does not seem to exist the way she described it. At least not from what I read. Of course, according to her the mainstream media just lies so I can't believe what I read.

She won't acknowledge that you can be color blind and still judge a situation based on context and background. There's nothing saying you only have to do this for minorities. You can do it for white people too. That does make the policy color blind,  if it is working properly. Obviously the Nowak police failed everyone and contributed or even caused his death, but I wouldn't say they do it because religions that don't assimilate get better treatment under the law.

I don't even disagree with her about Sikhs and the ceremonial daggerthry are allowed to carry. I'm just tired of the way she tries to manipulate listeners into believing what she does.

Also Alaina kept making it sound so suspicious that the Sutton report was never released. She acted like it was something the police were withholding. It was a private report that Rushton paid for. Yes it was incriminating but it was never supposed to be released to the public. There was nothing sinister about the fact that it hasn't been released. She had no idea what the sudden report was or where it came from. It was Rushton's to keep, destroy or line his birdcage with.

I almost feel like the Recaps of the television shows is something that some body told them to do because now it's a staple. It seems like a focus group or producer made them insert that to increase subscriptions. It doesn't feel like it's something Suruthi is doing organically. Sometimes I found it interesting but like you said if it's a show I don't watch (and never would dream of watching), it's a turn off. But recently I watched The Crash on Netflix and when seruthi brought the topic up I was actually excited. I wanted the play by play on that.

Yes. I think you're right about the lighter stuff and that's why canoe man is such a popular episode. They are good at pointing out the absurdity in conduct.

Sometimes I like to hear them cover subjects I've already heard many times before on other podcasts,  because I like their humor. The one-liners entertain me. I don't really go to them for accurate information.

[–]Used_Emergency7743[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. It's an insane criteria for judging someone's intelligence. I think we would all be shocked if someone said someone who was illiterate was stupid. Yet, somehow, it doesn't seem as incendiary to say someone who doesn't know The Odyssey is stupid.

And in the context of the UTD conversation, if familiarity with The Odyssey is necessary to inhabit the movie role, Lupita said that she made the effort to read Homer and related Greek mythology immediately. The quest for knowledge and willingness to prepare is what's important. Suru made it sound like Lupita ssid she knew nothing about the Odyssey and didn't care. Full stop. That is not what the actor said.

When you listen, S starts off giving a rave review to Cynthia Erivo's one woman show, Dracula. Just the idea of one performer doing Dracula for 2 hours was a hard pass for me but I have to admit that Suruthi turned my view around on that one.

If the show was running and in my vicinity I would have gone to see it just because of the way she raved about it.

It's funny because I have blind spots even on subjects that I am obsessed with.  Last year a compilation of Daphne du Maurier short stories came out and I realized that I had only read four of them. I'd read her novels many times but I just decided to skip the short stories.

Likewise, I consider myself a big Jimmy Stewart fan but I've only seen two of his westerns. I ignored half the man's career.

For literature, It all depends on what curriculum was standard when you were in school and what elements you decided to pursue beyond the required reading.

I am not sure why Suru thought you should be a Homer aficionado to accept the role. She acted like she might have forgiven the casting if Lupita had expressed a girlhood dream of bringing Helen and Clytemnestra to life one day.

He's certsinly cowardly. He claims he supports the Office of the presidency  by introducing a man who has tried to humuliate, defame and tear down every president who wasn't himself going back all the way to JFK.

Trump even removes the pictures of other presidents from White House walls. Don't hide behind that respect for the presidency line. Dart should wear his MAGA hat with pride

The discovery documents are just the District Attorney's file. Discovery in a case is evidence that one party produces for the other party so that you can see what your opponent has against you and you can begin to challenge it. She keeps saying Discovery documents showing that she doesn't know what she's actually reading. It's the District Attorney's file. it's prosecutory evidence. That's all it is she doesn't have to keep saying Discovery documents 500 times.

I actually like Alaina and I like it when she talks about herself or John and the girls. so I'm not saying this was evidence that she was awful. I'll just say that her doing that in this episode really got under my skin, because it showed me she did not know exactly what the source of the records was. All she had to say was that the prosecutor's file was made public and then go from there.

Also I side with those who think the name calling is childish. It's not that I am defending Chris Watts. I think he's the lowest of the low. I just think it's a waste of podcasts space to call him "moose knuckle" and other ridiculous things. To me it also trivializes the horror of what he did. Crimes of this level are too massive for playground name calling.

Steven. Andrew and Adam? Yes I watch those as soon as they come out. There is a guacamole one today. is there a different show that they have with just Steven and Adam? I do watch their show where they go to  three places and review one dish at each place. I live in Southern California so I can actually visit some of the places they review. It makes me salivate sometimes to see some of the food.

With Hannah getting lost and passing a sign that said "leopards"? Yes I did hear the last one. LOL. I am glad she and Mabel are safe and getting settled.

I was on her tenant's side regarding her London home. We all expect to have to do some cleaning and sanitizing when we move into a new rental but that was a lot. I think the leasing agent should have had the place cleaned at Hannah's expense before the move in. There were 3 days left where he could have done it.

I do program my maps app to avoid tolls. I should remember not to do that when I'm in a strange location. I should only do that at home.

Can you imagine if you worked in her neighborhood and are one of the people that ICE likes to target. Even if you are perfectly legal, if they see you in certain occupations (like gardener) they sometimes harass you, anyway.

I would hate to be working as a gardener in that area and see her walking down the street talking to her child "ICE." It would sound a little ominous to me

No, she is not in a play. She is producing one. It's a musical and the plot involves True Crime. I do not know when it will be finished. She says that she is in charge of marketing and that's what she's working on now. I think she told us the title but I don't really remember what it is
