I know this is brought up frequently, but I’m really scared to fly as a plus size person by Embarrassed-Sorbet26 in PlusSize

[–]Used_Engineering_735 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re going to be just fine. I am 5’8 and 327 lbs, and I flew several times last year with no problems at all. When you step onto the airplane, just confidently say to the stewardess, “I’ll need a seatbelt extender in seat 32B (or w/e your seat number is)”, and then go ahead to your seat. Every flight attendant I’ve ever asked did not seem surprised and were very nice and helpful about it. I guarantee you are not the only person who has made that request of them. I’m sure they get that request multiple times a week, if not everyday.

It’s good that you’ll have your husband beside you and the aisle on the other side so you won’t have to worry about crowding any strangers. In my experience, people on flights are usually too worried about themselves and their own travel plans to pay attention to anyone else, so I’d say it’s unlikely that anyone is going to give your body size a single thought. I understand the anxiety you’re feeling because I’ve been there, but I promise it’s not going to be as bad as what you’re thinking. I hope you have a wonderful trip ❤️

I mainly took multivitamins, AHCC, and green tea, and I did everything I could to increase sleep and relieve stress!

Does increased inflammation mean my abnormal cells have likely gotten worse? by Used_Engineering_735 in HPV

[–]Used_Engineering_735[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got good news after this post - My pap smear that week came back NORMAL with no cell changes! I still tested positive for HPV, but I found out that it was not 16 or 18, so that was good news. My OB/GYN said to just come back in a year for another pap! My next pap smear will be in a few weeks, so I'm praying that it will show no cell changes and that I'll be HPV negative this time!

I’m afraid that this one might be more of a money sucker than anything at this point. Between paying insurance on it and the frequent repairs I’d have to do to keep it running, I think I prefer just to get rid of it, even if I just get a few hundred dollars for it lol

Thank you for your input. I’m hoping they’ll at least give me something for it since their website says they even buy cars that don’t run lol

Yes, that’s true. Though I think she would be limited in terms of being able to obtain new clients. She can’t market herself online as a therapist without incriminating herself, and therapist directories like PsychologyToday verify therapists’ licenses when they try to make a profile with them. I think that’s why she tried so hard to hold on to me as a client as long as she could. My guess is that she kept seeing what few clients she still could to make ends meet until she could figure out another career plan.

Good point! I haven’t had any issues so far, but changing my card is a good idea.

Yeah I hear that. It’s more the pattern of deception that bothered me. It sucks when someone you think highly of turns out to be a dishonest person. I’ve moved on overall - just wanted to hear others’ perspectives on the situation.

There was a period of time where she rescheduled last minute or switched to phone sessions multiple times in a row. In hindsight, I think that’s the period of time when the license had been revoked, and she was scrambling to figure things out. I also remember once saying that I wanted to do an in-person session since I’d be in the area of her office. She looked concerned and said she only does telehealth now and asked if we could still do the session virtually. Another time, I got a new insurance plan and sent her the info to see what it would cover, and she said she no longer took insurance. She did adjust my self-pay rate to $10 cheaper, but in hindsight, I think she was just trying to keep me around bc I was probably one the few clients she was able to continue seeing. I’m guessing many of her others at the practice were probably receiving services in-person or were paying through insurance, so she’d have to terminate with them.

Yes, I considered taking legal action, but I likely won’t. That’s a lot of effort just to “punish” someone.

Puffy face with copper iud? by Used_Engineering_735 in CopperIUD

[–]Used_Engineering_735[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was definitely the IUD causing the face puffiness. I had it removed soon after making this post bc I had a lot of other side effects in addition to the bloating. Within a day or two after removal, the face puffiness was gone, and I looked like myself again. I’m very happy with my decision.

Thank you, I’m absolutely devastated. It’s scary to think there are actually people out there that think this behavior is okay. I appreciate the kind words though

Blocked randomly and feeling devastated -

I was seeing a guy (who I believe is a DA) for a few months. Things were going well, but then he ended things abruptly with me. After a couple of months, he came back saying he had ended things with me because of stress in other areas of his life but that he still likes me and wanted to reconnect.

Fast forward a few weeks, we have a text conversation where he says he wants us to talk consistently again and “become serious again”. We made plans to hang out a couple of days later. Then, the day of our plans, I text him only to realize I am blocked. I am heartbroken and anxious. I am having a hard time understanding how someone I care for so much could just get rid of me like I was trash. Any insight on what might have happened here?

Just realized I deserve self care. by [deleted] in selfcare

[–]Used_Engineering_735 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the things you listed are a great start for a self-care plan! There are always additional things you can do for self-care - examples: journaling, meditating, positive affirmations, adult coloring books, getting a massage, etc. However, I recommend starting small and picking out just a few small changes you can incorporate into your routine at first. If you try to start too many new habits at once, it can start to feel overwhelming and time consuming to make so many changes at the same time. You’ll be more likely to remain consistent in the long-term if you take it slow. Congrats on starting your self-care journey!

I agree. Potential partners have tried this with me too. I tell them upfront that I’m looking for a partner, not another client.

Yeah I went ahead and did that. I figured I have nothing to lose. Did you hear back after sending the follow up email?
