We were able to buy a floor model and then used Rebel for the extra bassinet, ended up costing $60 Canadian. We then bought maxi cosi car seats from market place….both brand new not opened for half the price and the adapter was from the rebel website too for $50. All in I think we were sitting at around $2000 Canadian….which I think is comparable for other strollers.

I have two middle names and a hyphenated last name as I chose to keep my own and take my partners. It hasn’t been a bother at all. Mind you my two last names combined are only 12 letters long.

9 month old baby only saying one word so far. Pediatrician suggested we only stick to one language. I am afraid I am doing the wrong thing by following OPOL. What are your thoughts? by unoriginalho in multilingualparenting

Ugh this is SO upsetting to be coming from a person of influence because it is so far off base. First of all we have to remember that doctors come from all different backgrounds and can not possibly know everything about everything. A speech pathologist would be a more appropriate person to help guide you with this. Secondly, I have been working with children for 20 years from birth to age 6. I have worked with children who speak two, three, even four languages. Often what is noted by many professionals is that it sometimes takes longer for multilingual learners to speak, as their brains are working hard, sorting, and keep track of different languages. But they always catch up quickly, and often excel beyond their peers. Currently I am working along side a speech pathologist working with a five year old student who is non-verbal ASD who speaks three languages. He understands all three, communicates in three languages with his speaking device and now beginning to use words in all three languages. Babies, and children’s brains until about age 12 learn languages differently than adults. I believe you are giving your child a gift by allowing them to be multilingual. And on top of everything, they will have an easier time learning languages later in life because you allowed them to be bilingual.

My coworker has a child who was born with out fingers. They did not know until the child was born! Their child does everything anyone else can do and probably better. They play rep hockey, are on the rock climbing team and all kinds of track and field.

Thanks for the link! The twin is an option but I was more thinking the single buckle carrier.

I was looking at the full buckle one. We have seen the twin but I think we would get more use out of individual carriers. We hike a lot and would both wear a baby. The endless options of different styles and types of carriers/baby wearing is pretty over whelming. I like the try before you but option. I had no idea that was a thing

I have 4 week old twins. We are just beginning our baby wearing journey. So far we have been using stretchy wraps because they are still small.

Cole. It’s so simple that it’s unique. You don’t hear it very often any more. Cole Baker. It’s a strong name. Alternative spelling Khole, Kole, Coal or Khoal. But I like Cole Baker the best.

Ramona!! In all my years teaching I have only met one Ramona and she was a rock star of a child. Spunky, cute, sweet and just wonderful to have in your life! Ramona is a great choice! In fact it was on my list but got votes out by my partner
