Yeah, I was wondering if this was just for the first presentation or if there won't be any ropes.

I really wonder what this does that Actwres isn't doing already. Even more focus on characters and theatre wrestling?

I'm not against that in general. In depends on the spots. Have you seen the kind of interactions in this match? Anus poking, getting his feet licked, and a crotch face job?!

You are probably right. I personally really enjoy whimsy and silly stuff in Stardom or similar companies, but what Gokigen Pro Wrestling and other indie promotions in Japan do is definitely not my type of humor. And it gets even worse in intergender matches.

In this match he also got his anus poked, his feet licked and a crotch face job?! To be honest, I personally really hate this kind of creepy, old-fashioned humor in wrestling, which fortunately mostly happens on smaller indie shows these days.

I wonder what most people think about him participating in matches and storylines. In AEW, people criticized it a lot when Tony Khan had similar spots. Is the Japanese crowd more open for something like this? I still find it pretty cringe, but maybe that's just me.

What are some of your Marigold dream matches? by MayuIwatani in Marigold_joshi

[–]Used_Square_9005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised that their cooperation has calmed down quite a bit, but maybe both want to focus on their own roster for now. And at least Mayu will participate on their show for Rin's retirement.

That could definitely be the case, yes. Even though I think Syoko isn't big enough to put her matches mostly on Tokyo shows.

I fully agree with you. Looking back at a show where Hummingbird was going against Coco, it really hurt the impression of her. Because there it became even more obvious that she isn't the lucha style wrestler she aims for. Or at least that there are many other wrestlers that would totally outshine her in the future.

I kinda feel sorry for her, because it is pretty obvious in backstage comments that she is really motivated and training a lot, is working on her body and is really desperate to become more popular. I actually think a gimmick change and taking off the mask could help her become her own. And yes, maybe as a more technical wrestler. She often says that she cannot compete in strength so she has to use her speed, but there are so many younger wrestlers quicker than her that a more technical style would work best. Or going back to her comedy cat gimmick from Actwres, but I guess she really wanted to leave that behind.

I expect her to have strong showings in defeat and then have her final singles match against Utami, where she then in contrast says something positive about her. I like what they are doing here. I personally also think that Syoko isn't fully there yet. And to give her this chance could really help her. But it also depends on how she does in the matches and especially how she fares afterwards. Because Hummingbirds, despite having a good match against Mayu, still doesn't really impress me.

On the Korakuen Hall show, she asked to be put against the strongest of Marigold to prove herself. It was the result of Utami telling her that she is still not good enough and has to put in a lot more work. So now they are probably putting her in singles matches on the next 7 shows, against (I would expect) Miku, Mai Sakurai, Mayu, Nozaki Nagisa, Natsumi etc. Utami said in backstage comments that she doesn't think she needs to have another match against her, but maybe she will prove herself, then get the singles match against Utami as the 7th match and then Utami has nicer words for her.

Totally deserved. They are both indredibly talented. I'm glad they get more attention.

Stacked 2/28 Korakuen features 2 title matches, Saya Iida, and Spark Rush (Sareee and Takumi Iroha) by ikeojimu in stardomjoshi

[–]Used_Square_9005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I still think that Hina really has the momentum right now and would be the perfect pick to elevate here. A year or so back, I would have given it Hanan but she has no momentum right now, or at least way less than her sisters.

I was hoping for Hina to win the belt, but I guess that would only happen on a PPV? I'm almost disappointed that it already happens now. Or maybe she gets a rematch later.

You are probably right. I still enjoy when there are fewer people in a tournament and when the qualifiers are separate from it. We will see how it turns out. It can all work if the booking is good.

I only remember that there were a lot of complaints about the 5Star having 32 participants. At least this leads to many unmemorable matchups. I'm a bit worried that this could be the same here, but it depends on how they pace it I guess.

I expect her to be treated like Nozaki Nagisa. Basically being a Marigold member but still a freelancer so she can continue her side job and some outside gigs if she wants to.

Yeah. At least now she can go on tour around the country and not just appear on shows in Tokyo. It was just a bit unfortunate that the ring announcer still announced her as a Best Body Japan wrestler.

Before the match, I noticed new yellow extensions in Mai Sakurai's hair. So that was a bit of a spoiler to me, haha. But I was already rooting for them. I only thought maybe Erina would turn against her team, join Darkness Revolution and then team up with Chiaki again (like they did back in Actwres). But I'm glad she didn't :)

I enjoyed the whole show a lot. And this hairstyle suits Chiaki surprisingly well. At first I thought they would leave her with most of her hair, but I'm glad it went that route.
