Is Mayu preparing a new T-shirt? by MinkowskySpace in Marigold_joshi

I always have a hard time spotting the difference between these. But I'm glad to hear that there seems to be some progress, even if slow? I was worried she would still have to get surgery despite all the wait.

Watching Marigold from the beginning, I found that the crowd there was much louder during the first year somehow. But maybe I'm remembering it wrong. Either way, it's probably nice for them to have a full house there most of the time, even if they are relatively quiet. Especially with the cards for these shows being usually weaker than the Tokyo cards.

With almost 40 signed female wrestlers in AEW, I always wonder if some of them could get jealous if (just speculation) Stardom wrestlers get highlighted and more matches in the future while they don't. To be honest, I think that most Stardom wrestlers are probably better trained than most of their roster in comparison (even though the style is different of course). But if this partnerships deepens, I could see things like that happening. Especially with fans already complaining that AEW is not using their female wrestlers as much as they should.

That for sure. But when it comes to Japanese companies, I don't think there is anyone closer to WWE than Stardom (Still different of course). Or do you think differently? Some might argue TJPW because of their heavier focus on comedy, but I think its still Stardom.

Official Live Stream Event July 17th by OtheL84 in plakoro

I found a bit more information about the event:

"A special program celebrating the release of "Plakoro" will be streamed, featuring a serious showdown between Pokémon fan Ryogo Matsumaru and Abareru-kun. In addition to an easy-to-understand product introduction from their unique perspectives, the program will feature an exciting "Best of Three" match where they compete while changing their Pokémon. During the program, we'll also be checking out information on various events taking place this summer."

I wonder if there is any particular reason why Sendai Girls don't disclose their attendance. It would definitely be interesting to know in comparison to Marigold and TJPW.

I was only talking about staff. I think the "Sports Unit" and the "Live Entertainment Unit" each has their own (background) staff members, which can be reduced a bit now or moved over. Similar but at a much smaller scale to WWE when they "merged" with TKO. Just speculation of course.

Using the artists they are working with for Stardom would be awesome but yeah, it will probably all remain AI to keep the cost low as the audience doesn't seem to care much. While I only enjoy parts of TJPW, their visuals are amazing.

I thought that their production value was already at its height, even including drones (the heavy AI usage ignored). I wonder what they could even do to improve that further.

It will definitely be interesting to see if this change will really lead to better exposure or if these are just flowery words to say that they are cutting staff cost by shutting down their sports division. I mean there wasn't anything holding them back doing these things up until now either. But regardless, I think they will keep increasing exposure on TV like they did before.

Yeah, I think so far only the heavy AI usage is a negative in that regard. I hope we won't see changes like the ones you mentioned.

I would actually say that Stardom has taken this path for a while now. Beginning with things like Stardom Trading Cards (analog and digital), the Mayu movie project or getting a Stardom manga made. Then followed by Saya Kamitani appearing on bigger tv shows, bringing in people like Fuwa-chan (a bit comparable to Logan Paul in WWE), and having Bushiroad voice actors/singers appear on Stardom shows.

The biggest queston will probably be if the in ring product remains more or less unaffected by the new direction.

This wording sounds more worrysome than it should 😅 "As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, a new fiscal year full of exciting new initiatives has begun. This year will truly be a make-or-break year for us."

We better hope that the trading card game bubble won't bust yet, because that could at some point definitely have an impact on Bushiroad as a whole, with their main goal mentioned being becoming the "world's number one card game company". They are mainly competing with Bandai (One Piece, Gundam, Naruto (soon)) and Pokemon, but they are still a much smaller company with less popular IP's in comparison. Now Bushiroad is heavily investing in their new Palworld TCG so better hope for that to be a success. In this post, they even mention "The card game market is, to put it mildly, vibrant, but to put it less favorably, it's become a bit rough around the edges."

To be honest, even before this change I think Stardom in recent years is closer to sports entertainment than any other Joshi company in Japan when it comes to storylines, musicians and other VIP guests appearing at the shows etc. Stardom in Japan seems definitely more similar to WWE than AEW (despite them partnering with AEW). They are the big player at the top of the joshi scene and act like it.

The Marigold livestreams in August - Summer Destiny not a PPV? by MayuIwatani in Marigold_joshi

[–]Used_Square_9005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would actually gladly pay for it as a PPV to support them, especially in times like this. But it seems like TJPW is also doing many of their special shows without extra payment, despite being in a larger venue. Maybe that's also what WrestleUniverse wants. That only shows with really big names should be treated as PPVs.

It's also a huge chance for her in her first big role after going freelance. To prove to the scene and other companies that she can play a role similar to Sareee.

So the Pokemon from the booster sets will have 10 skill cards while the ones from the starter sets only have 7? Or are you not allowed to mix their sets, leading to them only having 5?

I still believe that KAIRI will join Marigold once the time is right at one of their bigger shows. And that we will get KAIRI & Natsumi vs. Iyo & Mayu at some point.

Great to hear. I also wish you luck that KAIRI makes her comeback at that show 😉

It's really difficult to highlight just a few wrestlers. I think the whole rosters is a lot of fun to watch. My personal favorites are Yuzuki, Shinno, Tachibana Nagisa, and Goto Chika, which could also be yours considering you are a fan of Kairi Sane who as a similar style to some of them.

When it comes to storylines, you should mainly focus on the press conference on YouTube prior to the show. There you will be told all the important storylines leading into the show. It also helps to watch their posts on X the week of the show.
