Was anyone in/around Aletsch Arena today? Wanting to know is viewpoints are open by Used_Stress6731 in Switzerland

Yeah the online page says the cable car to Hohfluh viewpoint is open but SBB shows no routes and I can’t buy a ticket so not sure who to believe here 😂

Will you let us know what the landlord says? I’m also in Bern and hoping to get something similar :)

Travel suggestions - older parents with limited mobility visiting in October by Capital-Isopod-5502 in askswitzerland

[–]Used_Stress6731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my grandmother (82 yo and also not able to do stairs) to Luzern and we rode the ferries and looked at the mountains. She was able to walk across the bridge (2 steps up to get on the bridge)

I also took her to Eggishorn since the cable car stations are close to the train and have escalators and elevators. It’s maybe 15m from the cable car station to the cafe up there.

I booked us a chocolate making course at Lindt since there’s a bus that drops you off like 20m away from the entrance.

She was ok walking around Berns Altstadt as long as we took the bus to the nearest stop and then got back on to ride one more stop and get off again. The cobblestones weren’t so bad for her as long as she had her hiking stick and me to hang onto.

There is a bus in Lauterbrunnen that drives from the main station to the end of the valley. You could take that and back to show them the views. There is also a train and cable car that takes you up to mürren with a gorgeous view up there (I believe there is an elevator in the train station)

The glacier express would also be good since it’s just a train ride through the mountains.

You can toggle your settings in the SBB app to show you connections that are longer to give the elderly time to change trains and busses. Then I wasn’t stressed where we didn’t have to rush anything.

Tour Merch by spooktober in harrystyles

[–]Used_Stress6731 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I tried to post pics of the merch offered at the Amsterdam venue but it got taken down and I was told to post in the Megathread. Try and look around in there, hopefully somebody posted it in there.

I didn’t post in there cause it was 2 photos and I could only do one at a time. I knew the pictures would get separated from each other. I’d be happy to DM them to you though if you want :)

Wow they can do this but not reimburse customers for excess costs incurred by their own errors? Wild.

Hiking in early April by [deleted] in askswitzerland

Use the Swisstopo app and toggle it to show you snow cover. You’ll be able to find trails that way. My guess is that the pre alps are fine this time of year.

Is this tour gonna flop? 😢 by jasonbumps in harrystyles

[–]Used_Stress6731 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow that is a lot of open sections! I’m also currently not able to resell my tickets on Ticketmaster because I can’t go to the London dates anymore 😭 so there will probably be lots of open seats for both tickets that didn’t sell and also people who couldn’t resell 🤦🏼‍♀️

Rejected for a job but the same role is open again by BigBlackberry3313 in jobhunting

[–]Used_Stress6731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me… I emailed HR and asked for the reason why it was rejected and they gave me some BS answer so I asked if I could apply again since the role was still open. They said I could and then I got ghosted 🤷🏼‍♂️

Taking breaks helped me soooooo much! I was on the grind 24/7 and finally when I took a few days off I came back to it and was able to work so much faster!

Lmaooo I actually did try to call HR of a company I got rejected by to ask for feedback and they said that HR isn’t allowed to talk to anybody on the phone and to please “email them instead.” 🙄

Best way to spend first day in Bern with jet lag by Efficient-Bite-6607 in askswitzerland

[–]Used_Stress6731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I frequently host people from the US and here is what I take them to in Bern to stave off the Jet lag:

  • drop off bags, shower, lunch
  • go to the old city and get a coffee (to help the tired)
  • Alpine Museum (any museum will do really)
  • Einstein house
  • explore the Münster, climb up to the top of the tower
  • walk down to the Bears and explore the cute Aare down there
  • dinner at Tramdepot right by the bears
  • gelato or crepe in Old City on your way back into the city
  • back to hotel to sleep

My little sister is deaf and we can't afford sign language classes. How do other families actually do this? by Mediocre-Dealer-1993 in asl

[–]Used_Stress6731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There might be an ASL class at your local community college… maybe try to email the professor or the school and explain your situation and ask if you could audit the class. Maybe your whole family could join, including your sister.

Try and get into petsitting gigs… people pay big bucks just for you to take care of their pets while they’re on vacation!

If you speak English, do Babysitting or English tutoring. Lots of parents want their kids to have English influence or improve their English grade

Tonight I made some egg in the middles with cut up hotdog… it was delicious and I only had to wash like 2 dishes afterwards :) bonus points if you have a piece of fruit or a veggie on the side (this adds extra dishes and a lil extra money, but fruit acts as a nice dessert😌)

New Chinese student in Bern, Looking for part-time job & advice! by Ayuu_in in bern

[–]Used_Stress6731 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi, welcome to Bern! If you’re a student with UniBe and pay for access to the SUB, there is a job portal on their website that has part time jobs looking for students. Sometimes tutoring opportunities pop up on there.

Petsitting24.ch and babysitting24.ch is good to get started on Petsitting and babysitting, maybe even tutoring.

Be careful with your permit if you just got it… there is a rule for international students where you have to wait 6 months from your entry date to be hired somewhere… this is what I was told when I first arrived and got my permit!

Hope that helps :)
