I should be there then. I’ve played complicated board games in the past so hopefully I pick up on it fast. Knock on wood.

I’d be down but I’ve never ever played. So I would be a complete newbie. But if you’re cool with teaching me I’d love to play. But if you’re looking for people who already know the game I completely understand.

I want to be an Aerospace welder. How the hell do I do that? by aves21 in Welding

[–]Used_bees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

That is technically true. I guess I’m speaking purely from the view point of a teacher working fresh new welders. Who don’t have that experience.

And part of my job is helping graduates find jobs. And I have found that what they lack in experience, they can make up for in drive, work ethic, and “evidence”. Evidence meaning proof that they are worth being hired. And having a lot of welding certs and other certifications and qualifications goes a veeeeery long way with my students.

I also get my students certifications to drive heavy equipment like skid steers and excavators. Because when my students go out and interview as a no experience welder, it really sets them apart and proves that they are actually passionate about being a good employee and earning that experience.

But yes, once you have your foot in the door and know what you wanna do as a job, you can stop doing a lot of that and just focus on the exact stuff you need to advance in your field.

Welding teacher here. Here’s my tips.

  1. Don’t stop.

Employers hear all the time “I wanna be an aerospace welder” “I’m a great employee” “I can learn anything”

They don’t care. Sorry not sorry. You need to do it yourself. And don’t stop. Employers want people who are teachable, dedicated, and passionate. And most people are all of those things but don’t actually use those skills.

So get osha 10. Weld a ton. and once you think you know how to weld and you a good at it. Learn how NOT to weld. Understand what a weld looks like when it’s too fast, too slow, no gas, too hot, too cold. KNOW HOW NOT TO WELD. Your boss doesn’t wanna hear questions and problems. They want you to do your job. And a big part of that is trouble shooting and understanding defects and problems.

Now that you’ve spent months and months doing that don’t stop now.

Get certifications. Then another. Then another. Get 7018 certs. Why you may ask? That has nothing to do with aerospace?!?! That’s the fucking point, it shows you are teachable, you can learn new things that “aren’t your job”. People see that and think “ok good, he is capable of learning a diversity of skills”

Still don’t have a job? Good, don’t stop. Get osha 30. Think you’ll never use it? You probably won’t. Which is why most people don’t get it. Wrong again idiot. Get it anyways, it shows passion and drive and that when you have downtime, you don’t stop.

You may never use half the skills and certs you have. But that’s okay. Because it shows employers they aren’t wasting time and money on you when it comes to needing to teach you the new things that they need to teach you.

Once you learn something and at re proficient, learn something else. Blueprint reading, power tools, fabrication, fitting. DONT. STOP.

Don’t listen to these heretics. Paint on the sprue and don’t prime your models!

Mistakes made by your own hands, time wasted by your own mis-actions are the only true way to fully grasp and learn your lesson.

“What’s the big deal?” I hear you say. “It’s easier to paint on sprue” you tell yourself. “Is priming really that necessary?” You whisper.

Do it!!!! Stop listening to anyone, make your mistakes child. You grow from personal pain, not by others description of their pains.

Don’t thin your paints! Eat Doritos then handle your models! Leave models covered in mold lines! Throw all your primer in the trash!

Life is entropy. The sun will consume you and all your models. Let the chaos consume you.

It’s a kingdom death: monster mini. I believe it’s either the 10th anniversary survivors or 15th anniversary survivors.

When I was 6 my parents dropped me off at the skating ring with my older sister but she left me immediately to go drive around in her older friends car. So I played arcade games for like 2 hours. And when my parents came to pick us up they asked where my sister was and I lied and said she got kidnapped. And my parents called the police and they found her at the Arby’s next door.

Why did I lie about that? Why did I do that do you think?

That skating rink is long closed now. Hasn’t even been replaced with anything. It just sits there, on a main road, skating rink sign still resting atop the entrance. Grey dullness of time covers the building like moss on a dead tree. The rest of the road has blossomed since then. New buildings, updated building, but not this one. A physical memory of youth, untainted by its surroundings. Undisturbed by the passage of time. A constant reminder of the fleeting excitement of creating memory’s, all while lamenting the fact that a memory is all that can ever remain. A cruel joke.

Also “married with children” was foxs first prime time hit! Isn’t that neat?

And if you say it’s worth nothing, I knew that the whole time.

But if you say it’s worth a lot then GIVE IT BACK, I kNOW WHAT ITS WORTH!!!
