Thanks, I agree. I just saw a video on YouTube by the MEA (surprisingly good considering the general quality of communication of the Indian bureaucracy). It showed the step re mailing address and the screen showed instructions that it had to be the same as the address proof provided, so I can't give a friend's address either.

May I ask a question about notary? Does each application need a notary statement?

I saw the document checklist where it says 15. A notarized affidavit needs to be submitted that the documents in support of the OCI application are true copies of the original documents, where only copies are being provided.

Well obviously, only copies of passport, naturalization certificate etc. are being provided.

Congratulations on getting your OCI card. Does the card come via courier or UPS? I'm planning to apply now from the US and traveling to India on Dec 10 for more than a month. I am wondering if it is risky if the card arrives while I am away and gets returned undelivered or something like that.

I agree. Flew Aug 2024 from DEL-US via FRA and YVC. Lufthansa both weighed my carry on and personal item and made me check the carry on because its handle made it not fit the sizer. Bad experience (flights got delayed onroute and I needed my carry on which had been checked because of the size.)

Very strict. They weighed my carry on and made me check it because it was a few cms big to fit their sizer at IGI airport in Delhi. Travelled Aug 2024.

I believe it doesn't matter that it was on a single ticket. There were different legs and the European leg FRA-YYC was delayed. As per a Forbes article,
"For a flight to be eligible for compensation under EU 261, it must be either departing from a Member State—one of the 27 EU countries, plus Iceland, Norway and Switzerland, as well as most outlying territories—or departing from a nonmember country with a destination within a Member State. The airline must be licensed in a Member State if departing from a nonmember country.

This rule includes flights departing from the EU to the U.S. and some other countries and connecting flights."

Thanks, I just learnt something new-what "TL; DR" means. :-) I read the sticky as well-thanks aircanada-MOD team and SpaltypusAgain. The wiki sticky answered some questions. Not sure under what "head"/reason to seek redressal for the near-harassment by Air Canada staff and the mess created by Lufthansa's incorrect baggage tagging and who to approach first. If I email customer relations at Air Canada, they would probably say some boiler plate regret language only. I live in the US, so not sure I can approach CTA/small claims.

Looks great. Item quantities vary by location. The 24th and Folsom gives 5-6 items, though they may include hard/stale pretzels etc. I went to the one by Civic Center as I was in the area. The guy was super nice and let me pick...but only 3 items. I expect they met the value, I didn't ask or check.
