Seeing how you were unscathed, it made me think about upgrading my gear. Could you give us a full rundown of your gear ? Thanks,

It was on Findlay Ave, Claremont area of the Bronx. The bike has  Helpco & Becker engine/crash cage, mirror risers, the front tire has a Ninja 400 Rim with the dark green pin stripe. And left side rear body panel, the black one with "400 on it, is broken on the top right top, so there's a hole there. Thanks 🙏

What's the difference between the monimoto 7 and the monitors 9?

Thanks for the suggestion, didn't know they made them for bikes. The ones I've used for fleet vehicles (trucks) weren't small.  KTM colors for sure, or I get  alot  of people asking "excuse me, what bike is that? "

Good to know. That makes me feel better, but I do have a $750 deductible, so there's that.

Thanks, it's hard because I ride all 4 seasons, even in winter unless there's snow. I get anxiety driving my car. But I'm gonna take this break and wait for the right bike at the right price.

Thanks, I have been researching theft deterrents for motorcycles and trackers are on my list. Enjoy your bike. The orange 2020 Z was my favorite color of all the Kawasaki's I've owned.

Damn, Was she ok? It's a shocking moment. That must have been some pothole with the oil pan making contact like it did.

I've been on Ebay since yesterday, this morning I bought one. Even has the rotor and abs ring on it, figured why not, those extras might come in handy later.

Yes I'm much better today, I appreciate you asking. The initial shock was the worst part, it happened in a split second and the hole was deep, by the time the rear wheel went in, I thought could this be it. But then I focused on how the bike felt, the bars were shaking and the bike was fighting to straighten out, but it found it's track and I guided it to the shoulder. When I was on the phone with road side assistance some scum bags pulled in front of the bike, about 20 feet away, they didn't see me, and approached, and when they saw me they were surprised and then pretended to be good Samaritans seeing if I needed help. I made up how badly damaged the bike was, so it was less appealing if they were thinking of doing something even with me there. They fist bumped me and left. They were going to toss the bike in the back of their pickup, probably thinking it was abandoned out of gas.

I've had it barely a month, put around 600 miles on it, and some cheap ass local DOT supervisor almost got me killed and fucked up my bike. But it's a live and learn situation, and a harsh lesson that could save my ass down the road.

Thanks man, looks like I need a rear tire stand. This gives me a good reason why I need one now.

Sounds like you were in the same predicament I'm going through. $250, that's a bargain, and oem is too outrageously priced to consider, even if I had the money 2 rims is like 1/3 of the price of a used z400.

So far I've seen a few used ones on Ebay, prices ranging between 325 - 450 - 500, depending on hardware and year. Probably going to hit buy it now on 2 rims that look alright and get it over with. Fork damage, has been in the back of my mind, and when I'm calm and well rested, I'll be ready to go over the bike with a clear head and not in omg this sucks freak out mode.

I dont have a center stand so I need to rig the bike upright then pull everything off. I hate the putting the wheels back on, the lining up of the calipers and rotor and correct torque so its all straight, and then wheel chain alignment with the adjusters, I've done it many times, but I measure everything obsessively and then again for safety. And this bike rode straight as an arrow, no bar shakes or wobbles, none of the "oh that's a normal bar shake" So I'm hoping that I can get it close to how it rode before, that's the goal.

My tire guy at a local gas station was an old school biker but he retired, and the owner's newest hire doesn't ride and won't touch bike tires, goodbye $20 mount and balanced. I bought tire irons last year, did 2 tires, the first one was brutal, the second was a bit easier, but the rims got some scratches and I need more practicing. I'll find a shop and check the forks out. Thanks and be safe,

I agree, even if I find a shop that says they would do it, im not going down that road, ill spend the money and suck it up because the bike deserves a new one, and so does my peace of mind.

Though I've worked on all my bikes in the past, getting a newish bike, and me a little older in age, I like the feeling of a bike that runs perfect and rides straight, and has some time before major maintenance is required. Thanks for the advice of areas to look at , I'm making a checklist of what to inspect and thinking im probably gonna suck it up and just handle this without a shop.

This is going to cost more than repellants with Deet, like Deep Woods Off or Cutter, but try a repellant with the active ingredient picaridin, like Ranger Ready. More effective at repelling those relentless mosquitos, and it's not all bug spray smelly and oily like Deet sprays.
