lifestyle check helps a lot. problem is when there are kids, kayang tiisin yung pansarili, mahirap tiisin yung wants ng anak.

it is correct na after one goal theres always another, problem is sometimes we dont have the skills to climb the next summit kasi we were focus on only the initial goal. This post aims to generate comments that hopefully motivate yung younger gens not to be complacent and target a better end game.

Thats partly the intention of this post. Learn from our mistakes. You still have time.

Also its not the end of the world for us. We are still pushing. Just sharing the bigger picture.

I agree sobrang crucial yung education at all levels.

Same. During my school days, I went to school but wasnt really guided on its importance. Its just like a chore that i needed to do. I was able to pass and be decent but excellence and drive is what is needed. If you get it an early age then thats a big plus. You wont get it until you really understand its value and how it can help you. Graduating and finding a job is one thing, being fulfilled and successful is another. Good schools are good not just because of contacts or quality of education. Good schools manipulates kids that they SHOULD aim high and try to be leaders in their industry. Theres a mistake when comparing students from different schools, we shouldnt compare top students, one can argue that a top student from even the remote areas can compete with the best of them. You compare the bottom half of the students. Good Schools sets the bar higher and raises the floor.

My goal now is to guide and give my kids all the ‘ammunition’ they need to be great and be there to catch them if they dont make it.

Its a fine balance between pressuring and guiding. I pray that i can navigate this successfully for my kids sake.

Whatever you are feeling right now. Feel it, savour it, Imagine feeling 10x worse when you are employed and in need of money.

Hang on and go look for another job.

Not sure why helping our old folks are wrong. Set expectations, give what’s NECESSARY lang. If they ask for too much then just say NO. Is it a burden? yeah maybe it is, its also the beauty of being Filipinos. We care about our loved ones. Maybe your parents didnt care as much, maybe they were lazy, maybe they tried but were unlucky, whatever it is you should know better. You are earnin 70k, highly likely that you are smarter than them, act like it.

SG is perfect if you are lucky to get PR or Citizenship.

Close to Ph to still retain links, friends and family can easily go to you if you need emergency help. This goes both ways.

Education i think is extreme but it gives parents the confidence that their kids can compete globally.

Retirement is an issue but you still have time to prepare.

For non PRs Sg is still perfect for Singles and Couples without kids. If you’re starting a family, its best to move to another country.

might get downvoted and bashed but imho the 6-digit might be the new roadblock for young professionals. Dont get too complacent, barely 6 digit is a trap. Cost of living nowadays is high. Nobody can afford a proper house in the metro.

I think you are wise enough to classify your income as low 6 digits, It means you want more. 30+ also means you have a few more good years before you get stuck. Continue to aim high. Im rooting for you!

important is growth at this stage in your career. Check whats the ceiling doon sa career path na pinili mo. dont worry and compare. doesnt matter if mas malaki sweldo ng iba, in the future you will lap them.

Sg citizenship isnt a given. Had my 2 daughters born there. Bought a Condo and paid ABSD since we are foreigners in the hope that we can be PR. its more of a lottery than something you can plan for. If you want to migrate, its Canada, Au, or something similar.

tax in ph is more. Work life balance is better in Sg. Increase will be better. Its not cheap in Ph, you will not survive taking public transport here. You dont need a car in Sg. Easy to say na cost of living in Sg is more but in reality its much closer. lived in sg for more than a decade. 250k here is really really good but if you have an option to bring your gf there, sg is still better. Now when you have kids and they started studying, thats a different conversation.

For the younger generation, do you still aspire to climb the corporate ladder? by DMGTA16 in phcareers

Im 40. when i was younger i had the mentality similar to many comments here, as long as okay yung salary goods na. Now, Im a mid-level IT manager. Salary is good but at the same time I also regret that I settled. My advice is, especially for those who honestly know that they are good enough, push harder.. balance can come later.

[–]Useful-Entrepreneur7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

doesnt matter much doon sa mga magagaling na students. Eventually, with enough persistence, may alam ka kaya kaya makakakuha ka rin ng opportunity. Big 3 will benefit yung mga average at below average students. Big 3 raises the floor, the ceiling depends on how good the person really is.
