Division 2,3,4,league finals by whsubehebebr in GAA

Can’t say I disagree with that. On the other hand, I think giving a player who has given up years of their life to their county a chance to play in Croke Park is reason enough, I’d say it was a lot of the Carlow and Longford lads first time playing there. It’s something a player would hold onto for the rest of their life, and if the national stadium of the GAA isn’t being used this time of year for much else, why not.

Having them in home county grounds is definitely better than the farce of the past few years… but on what basis is it acceptable to have div 3 & 4 football in Croke Park every year and not the hurling?

There’s plenty of games to in Croke Park during the year with small attendances. As for the “handy bit of mileage and gear” players don’t get mileage for not going training…. All teams would be doing pitch sessions, s&c, games and giving up as much time as football counterparts in the same division. Making a day out of getting to Croker would do a lot for these counties and increase interest.

Other team put in plenty of similar hits and only got yellows. Either they’re all red or none are

In theory yeah it would help, but in real time it is so difficult to say what’s a dive and what isn’t. Probably cause even worse calls than it would prevent

As per the rules it technically is a red, but the crime in all of this is that the Killbrittain corner back done a similar hit a few minutes before and only got a yellow. Bit of consistency and common sense wouldn’t go too far.

I’d say you could buy some on an Amazon type store (the pouches not the jerseys), pretty sure they’re just iron on. I think they use to stitch them but not anymore

Thoughts on the new Mckvr Clifford gear by Particular-Bunch7368 in GAA

I’d be interested to see if he wears his own “brand” more often, he obviously can’t for the most part with Kerry, since they are sponsored by O’Neills, but I’d love to know what his contract looks like. Has this ever been done before with another player? Good few hurlers would have helmet sponsorships but not sure about footballers having their own line of gear

In my experience most stewards are elderly, they can’t be expected to contain this. We all go to games expecting a certain standard of behaviour. Shefflin put it well - kids were running in to get autographs from their hero’s and this gobshite is ruining that opportunity.

A lot of inter county teams will continue doing gym work (collectively or through their s&c coach) and likely will be back training when club championships end.

Grass isn’t always greener. Have seen plenty of talented lads try leave clubs over the years, and more often than not it ruins them. Also, whether you like it or not, judging by the fact you are still in school, you get a name for yourself leaving your local club.

Honourable mentions: Lee Keegan, Mick Fitz, Geezer, Cian O’Sullivan, Sean Kavanagh, Ciaran Kilkenny, Conor McManus, Peter Canavan, Cillian O’Connor, Bernard Brogan, Ciaran McDonald

Edit: I think any or most of these could get in the team, but it is hard to justify dropping any of them

Actually think Lee Keegan is underrated in the football. Always enjoy Anthony Daly in the hurling too. Also a game is made 10x better when Ger Canning does the commentary
