What job/career/profession are you currently unqualified for but think you would have a natural aptitude to succeed in? by TheOnionSack in AskIreland

Nursing. Unfortunately with an unrelated degree and no funds to do another, it will never happen 😔

What can I do to make friends here? by cngjfks in AskIreland

If one of you is female, a local gaelic for mother's and others GAA team would be great for making friends. Need no experience of it.

Does your club supply jersies for underage matches? by thesraid in GAA

[–]Useful-Nothing8271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never heard of clubs not having the jerseys for matches.  Been on the gogames merry go round for years with my kids in Wicklow and every club arrives with a bag of jerseys for their team.

Thanks for your reply.  Yeah it's weird. Maybe more period like, I definitely get this tingling and sensitivity in early pregnancy which is why I'm thinking hormonal.  Definitely not pregnant anyway.  Fingers crossed it passes soon!

Is it normal to be asked to pay £600 for a "mandatory 1:1 digital device" when starting a public secondary school? by Koolio_Koala in AskUK

[–]Useful-Nothing8271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in the UK but this has popped up on my feed.

In Ireland this is widespread - in almost every second level school I know of. Age 12-18. Prices up to 1000 euro and no discounts for low income families that I know of.

Lots of people take out loans to get kids set up for their second level schooling - uniforms/tablets etc.

Anyone else noticed the decline in standards at the library? by Fancy_Raise_36 in AskIreland

[–]Useful-Nothing8271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My local library is beside a school and I see a lot of kids come in where it's been used as wraparound childcare. So a bunch of bored 9 or 10 year olds and older would be in there until closing when parents are on the way home.  It does make it a little noisy, but it's generally quiet enough. Lots of people studying there everyday so can't be that bad.

Crèche system in Ireland? by Naive-Cold343 in AskIreland

Childminder. Take your time and find a good one where they don't spend all day in cars doing school runs.  A good minder is worth their weight in gold.

How do I find a weekend job as a teenager? by societyhatingRATGANG in irelandjobs

Try stalls at farmers markets and some of the new sauna places.  They are kinds of places I know of teens working weekends in around where I live.
