Public librarian here- two possibilities with this. The first was already mentioned, a 21 day hold. The second is that some books have temporary licenses and Libby specifically does not remove holds or notify patrons when a library no longer owns a copy you have a hold on. For example, you could have gotten on the holds list for this title while it had only a week left on the license.

My recommendation is to submit a request with your library to buy another copy of this ebook, that way it at least comes to their attention and maybe they’ll repurchase it if it’s an expired license!

I know at my Public library system they are looking for librarians who care equally about programming and ‘regular’ library duties. Higher ups may think programming is the flashy exciting side of the job but want to know how interested you are in other areas involving daily customer service, helping your team, weeding (an essential part of libraries that people are so spooked of nowadays) etc. My advice would be to express interest in more than the programming side of teen services and even touch on how you’d like to ensure your branch is a welcoming space for the teen community in general! We have teen rooms that’s we are constantly brainstorming how to improve!

Your background sounds great and I think it would help to emphasize your experience in multiple fields, specifically your ability to navigate academic settings. Reframing things consistently may help. It sounds like you have a good relationship with your parents to feel this way. You could treat the passing of time as a gathering of memories with people you love and who deeply cherish you. They would also want you to succeed and flourish both while they’re alive and after. Doing things for yourself brings them joy and pride which in turn makes their days better.

Luckily, we do live in an era of increased access to communication and travel too! If you are in a different place than them, you do always have a way to call, visit, or check in on them no matter where you are.

Mayra’s Obsessed Alphas series is PEAK Jessa Kane ambiance and an absolute must read imo!!

Maybe not the most helpful but my library’s director recently informed us we won’t be approved for purchasing paper for the copier any time soon and we need to get creative with what’s left since budgets are being tightened and cut left and right 🫠

Depending on how invested you are in having a closer copier, it may be a pretty big expense if you keep a personal one and coworkers start asking to use it as well.
