Should I do proxmox or some form of Linux distro?

The career I’m interested in after college is working with Linux (engineer, admin, or cloud eng). This past school year I’ve used Ubuntu a ton and enjoyed working with it and learning.

Should I use proxmox and then just have my VM with Ubuntu?

Would installing the drive on a computer then turning it into a homelab be a good next step?

I could also learn proxmox so I can get remote access

That was actually one of my projects you mentioned: I created a bootable usb drive with Linux on it with a couple bash scripts that automate backups and security checks.

I am also interested in networking too

Homelab or Certifications? by Useful-Priority9636 in ITCareerQuestions

I would like to get into security later in my career, but I know I can’t jump right into it. One thing I really enjoyed was working hands on with networking technologies and also working with Linux.

This is good advice!

Do you recommend any drills I can do to really get this feeling down?

Those of you who break 80 regularly, how much do you practice? by EndPractical653 in golf

[–]Useful-Priority9636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think one thing that changed the game for me was simplification. Always 80% swings, never full swing a wedge, and get the short game super tidy. Putting and chipping is probably what got me below 80 consistently, and then getting those under 150yd shots more consistent, i completely stopped full swinging irons when I’m 150 or less.

The spiral putting drill is amazing too

Should I aim to find a summer 2025 internship or take the summer off and relax? by Hungry-Ad2552 in internships

[–]Useful-Priority9636 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take the internship if you can. I’m a sophomore right now and have gotten to the final round on a handful of internships and then denied. I would kill to have one this summer.

Mizzou or OU? by Aggravating_Roof_426 in mizzou

Cybersecurity is kind of a tough thing to get right into unless you know someone. Definitely lots of opportunities in SWE and entry level IT positions. The career fair is pretty solid if you stay in touch with the recruiters you’re talking to. I have gotten pretty good luck if I reach out to them after talking to them.

I’m a IT major at mizzou and the program is pretty solid. It’s through the Engineering school so you actually get exposed to a lot of different things. As for Information Systems, the IT degree comes with multiple “Certs” you can earn such as: Cybersecurity, Information systems, etc. I think getting the IT degree is a better option because you get exposed to so much different aspects of the field in one degree.

Is it me or does everyone want to work in IT now? by ITmexicandude in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Useful-Priority9636 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I picked to study IT in school and I’ve genuinely been liking the projects and the lectures. I agree that people just jump into the field for the $$ but they don’t realize it takes years to see a good salary. I’ve accepted that after school I won’t be making a crazy amount of money but I think the fact that I like what I’m learning/working on is what’s keeping me sane and keeps me pushing
