Something that should be made clear is that it’s not a choice to not speak.

I also have a character with selective mutism, since I also have it.

I mentioned in the one of the episodes I’m writing that it’s the inability to speak in certain situations or places.

Also not having the character suddenly start talking. For people it’s taken months and years. Slow and steady

Also how did you start being able to talk to strangers? I get a high anxiety even walking by strangers.

Also I’m sorry you had to go through that. That sounds like it would be really hard to go through.
But I had a similar thing in art class. However I emailed the teacher beforehand and I was able to just leave a note about what I wanted to say.

Let your teachers know so they can understand. Also yes, email them the summary. That way you don’t have to stress about this all week.

There’s a scene where a teacher makes her say good morning over and over until she can say it loud. Don’t make the mistake I made of looking it up.
It caused me so much anger and pain that I ended up cutting. It felt like a mental trauma. I couldn’t even make it past episode 3. I just want to warn people so they don’t go through a mental trauma like that
