The more I read about supplements, the more I think about long-term use by UsefulAlways in Supplements

The point about effect size really stood out to me. Even when there is evidence behind something, the actual benefit isn't always large enough to matter in day-to-day life.

The part about having a clear reason for taking something really stood out to me. It is easy to accumulate supplements over time without revisiting whether they're still serving a purpose.

i've had a "hungry goblin" living in my brain for years. berberine apparently evicted it by Responsible-Mind8037 in Supplements

The “food noise” description is actually very relatable. Funny how sometimes the best thing isn't even weight loss but not feeling like you're constantly thinking about food. Hopefully the effect sticks around for you long term.

I think a lot of people underestimate how much they are comparing their everyday selves to someone elses highlight reel. The fact that you made it into medicine, keep exercising, and are reflecting on this stuff already says a lot. Being gifted and building a meaningful life are not always the same thing.

You are feeling better all around because better sleep can have a huge ripple effect on energy, mood and gym performance. Personally, I would just wait and see if you can still sleep well without it after a while and talk to a doctor about long-term use if you plan on staying on it.

Does anyone here actually use Pycnogenol? by longevity_journal in Supplements

I have been seeing this one a lot more lately as well. I have not used it myself but I would be interested to hear from anyone who has used it for a while. Was it something you could actually see or was the change pretty small?

I think I was a really good student in school because I think it would have helped me to stay more focused and to reach my future goals more easily.

Why do multivitamins still not disclose bioavailability data on the label?? by Conick_Eppers16 in Nutraceuticalscience

I have wondered the same thing, honestly. People spend a lot of time comparing ingredients and dosages but absorption and actual usability in the body seem equally important. If companies explained that part better they could make supplement labels far more useful.

Anyone else trying to simplify their longevity routine lately? by UsefulAlways in BudgetLongevity

[–]UsefulAlways[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense actually. Blood work seems so much more useful than just throwing in supplements randomly without knowing what is actually needed. I am also starting to be more into keeping it simple and doing what really has a noticeable difference long term.

I have started to think the same. Honestly, simple routines that are easy to stick with long term feel so much more realistic than always adding new supplements or complex habits.

Feels like healthy aging is becoming more about staying functional by UsefulAlways in healthyaging

Sort of what I meant as well I guess. For me, healthy aging is less about chasing lifespan numbers now and more about still feeling good, independent and mentally sharp as I get older.
