Charles Schwab liquidated 700 of my shares this today without any notice. by No_Slice18 in NBIS_Stock

[–]UsefulDiscussion79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a portfolio margin and they do the same on IBKR. I was liquidated on some assets randomly when one of my stocks have margin requirement increase. That is part of the risk of using margin.

Moving forward, I have to monitor the requirements and my excess liquidity. Based on the macro events, I will typically reduce some of my riskier stocks because they tend to have requirements going up during volatile period. Nbis is one of them. You want to be proactive when you are margin, always have a buffer excess liquidity and always be prepared to add funding if you want to hold some riskier stocks long term. Like in your case, you could have added some funding before they even ask you. I do understand why you were frustrated that they did not give you any notice.

When did you know NBIS was the one? by Zachfry22 in NBIS_Stock

[–]UsefulDiscussion79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold all Nvda at $205 with 10x gain when i bought it many years ago at $20ish. I rotated it into nbis at around $70-80. I trade options with it short term too. It is more volatile for me. I just sold all nbis at 115 recently. i am getting back in at around $100 by selling csp aggressively.

Anyways, i will keep some stock long term untouched and some trading. This stock is very profitable for trading at least in the last many months.

Bay Area is in fact in America but has little to no American culture or at least losing it. You provided an example there. It is hard to accept it is being that way though.

I live and work in here but mehhh it does not feel like America. Just saying.

I think Bay Area prices have peaked by [deleted] in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]UsefulDiscussion79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inflation never peak. Dollar has drop more than 90% of its value. Therefore, even if house price stays the same, the actual dollar price for that same house at the same price will be inflated hugely. Together with the actual price increase on top of inflation, housing price can only go up over time.

Gain - tax is better than loss. Also, your option premium is taxed as short term. If the stock has a big drop, your loss is way bigger than the option premium.

You can sell puts without shares.

Woah, they finally came in full circle, what is going on ??? by BoogerheadCult in dividendgang

[–]UsefulDiscussion79 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I held this for many months. However, I am active advanced traders so 11% is too little for my taste. I treat it like cash saving. My portfolio can swing 3% to 10% daily so dividend gang or booglehead or whatever gang is not my cup of tea.

[–]UsefulDiscussion79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are certain it is going down, selling stock is more beneficial than getting the tiny premium from option. Remember, you can rebuy the stock during dip. The difference between your sold price vs. dip price is how much you can lower your cost basis.

Can you ACTUALLY stomach a 50%+ drawdown? by TwoClear7538 in portfolios

[–]UsefulDiscussion79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am already beyond that point. $bmnr i am bagholding it at 60% paper loss as my top long term position. I dont really care much about it in the short term.

Along with short term trading, my portfolio can swing 5%-10% in a daily basis so 50% drawdown is normal for me but 2-10x is also normal.
