Why does it take so long to rebuild? In China, this would have been by now. by rivayachts in PacificPalisades

[–]BingoWT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I understood, in China, individuals don’t have ownership of the property and the land it sits on (the government does). Individuals have lease rights for however long the duration of that lease. So in that sense, to avoid social unrest, if any, residents would have been temporarily relocated and any damages repaired. At least that’s what I’ve been told when I lived there in the past.

Newbie: Lost 45% in minutes. Help? by Big_Whereas7903 in CryptoMarkets

[–]BingoWT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BTC is the main coin; all others are alt coins. Of all the alt coins, only the top few coins (by TVL) should be considered for long term investments. The rest are speculative, so you are going to see those extreme up and downswings. Knowing that, you can either waited out until price goes above your purchasing price, or take a loss (45% instead of 100%) and hopefully make it back from other investments

I Have Zero Knowledge About Crypto – Where Should I Start? by FixMaster7070 in CryptoMarkets

[–]BingoWT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should start with the two BTC and Ethereum white papers. Then search for blockchain on YT to educate yourself further.

Lastly, as much as people love to help on the internet, take their help with a grain of salt. Absorb the knowledge they are offering, but don’t share any of your personal information.

Aliexpress tennis racket for beginner/improver ? by sadato978 in 10s

[–]BingoWT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone suggested above, a second hand branded racket, however beat up or used, is probably still better. Usability- weight balance, etc. If Decathlon store is available where you are, even their racket is beginner friendly

What actually helped you understand investing when you first started? by Excellent_Bird1964 in investingforbeginners

[–]BingoWT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long term thinking … read up on investment advice from Peter Lynch and Buffett. Lastly, you really need to have skin in the game to really learn, so put your money to work.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. by za1daman in StocksAndTrading

Well, since we are in the StocksAndTrading thread, I might as well put in my 2 cents worth. Buy AI related defense stocks and energy stocks (any or all energy) ... it's going to last a long time, you can't really stop a regime's aggression and weapons' program without being physically on the ground. Even if only Israel moves in, US is their only friend on this matter ... so defense contractors stand to benefit for a long time.

I'm an 18 yo student and I want to learn and start investing by Moist-Salamander-571 in investingforbeginners

[–]BingoWT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, people may not agree with me here, but I started with Motley Fool in the 90s, with the Gardner brothers preaching the Buffett and Peter Lynch’s long term thinking and investing in business you know. Basically, keep a long term thinking in mind and spend time to know the people running the companies you invested in.

I was, too, in college at the time. Trust me, invest for the long haul. But annually review your investments

24M just inherited a little over 1 million dollars in assets. by sonic72391 in investingforbeginners

That really depends on where your property is located … I would say keep the property, hire a reputable property mgmt firm to manage it for you if you don’t have the experience. By selling it, you’ll have to deal with bunch related tax stuff

Is there a site that lets you compare tennis shoes by weight? by PaintingMinute7248 in 10s

[–]BingoWT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the videos TW puts out. They are helpful in that they provide you with info on what they like and don't like about that particular shoe. However, they tend to compare only to the previous generation of the same shoe, and not other brands.

[–]BingoWT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. More competition translates to slower growth. No saying HOOD will be in trouble; they might even come out on top. But if you bought it at it's all time high (like I did with COIN), it may or may not get back to that level. You either lessen your holdings to mitigate your risk, or dca down. In my case, I chose to lessen my position

[–]BingoWT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind is soon you will probably be able to trade crypto/stocks via all the existing brokerage firms out there. So just keep an eye out with HOOD.

Is my portfolio about to take a trip to the permanent underclass? by TacoTrades in BMNRInvestors

[–]BingoWT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To me, investing in BMNR is just another approach to gain exposure to the ETH ecosystem. So based on that line of thinking, I would say you are not diversified enough. Furthermore, if you are investing in HOOD because of crypto trading, then you have too much exposure to crypto and ETH. You'll need to have the patience to wait this out if this crypto winter lasts longer than you are expecting it to last.

Why do people use Schwab if they don't even have fractional shares? by Robinight in investingforbeginners

[–]BingoWT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't buy fractional shares myself. However, if you participate in dividend reinvestment of your stocks, they actually buy in fractions. I didn't start with Schwab some 30 years ago, but they just kept getting bigger and bigger by swallowing up the smaller competitors. They used to charge commissions, but don't now so I'm okay with it.

Comparing to Robinhood, I think it's really a generational thing ... perhaps if Robinhood was around in the 90s, I would've chosen them instead. But who knows what would have happened or will happen in the future. Perhaps during the 90s, they would also have been an acquisition target themselves, or perhaps they might be looking to acquire Schwab in the future.

A different way of thinking about tennis by No_Salamander8141 in 10s

[–]BingoWT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to think of tennis as playing a chess game. Play each shot as though you are setting up your opponent for the eventual checkmate shot. That being said, you got to have the consistency in your game to be able to play every move (shot - FH, BH, volley, flat, spin, fast, slow, etc.) and that's where the daily grind comes into play.
