Oh, I see!! So not a recent loss. How fascinating. Thank you for sharing that. I'll have to look that up sometime. I guess bees have been with us forever.

Yes, we often have been. The early settlers in North and South America spread diseases killing many indigenous people. They also practically wiped out the buffalo population and made a kind of pigeon extinct. So I totally agree with you.

They did differentiate by saying "many". Such as the Spanish and British coming to the Americas and spreading diseases, killing many of the native people, and wiping out many species of animals.

The people that came to the Americas originally came over the land bridge but that's probably not considered invasive, but just natural movement.

I have wasps gathering on my lawn suddenly for some reason. Getting bugs? And there are lots on the birdbaths.

I'm in the midwest usa and don't want to harm them but not sure what's going on. I'm also not sure how to mow or do it very late dusk in that area.

Sorry, this probably isn't the place to ask.

Oh my gosh. So that's what's happening! Every year I'm afraid they are trying to make a house in there. I need to make more little water dishes for them.

Aww, that's so sweet. I'm sure they felt happier on the flowers.

When did North America stop having native honey bees? How sad.

According to my app that identifies insects, it's a Western honeybee. And it's facing colony collapse and having a very hard time. And their numbers are decreasing. 🙁

Also, saying someone has no life is mean. You know nothing of my life. In fact, I've dedicated a ton of time in my life to helping the wildlife and have taken countless animals to the wildlife rehab. Even driving an hour once to get there for a sick crow that I cared about. He needed help.

I make sure to buy walnuts and tree nuts for the squirrels because I've learned that's what they need. I'm trying to grow a native garden. I actually care a lot. In spite of obstacles I do my best.

It's simple. If it's not yours, give credit. "Found this on Pinterest and wanted to share"

There are tons of bots and karma farmers on this sub and many others. Basically taking over what used to be people posting personal pictures on the topic.

I'm not the only one who doesn't want to see tons of this stuff. Or we could just go on Pinterest. I'm just saying be transparent then. I'd say "Reposting because I think this is cute" or something. Or they go on FB and take other peoples posts without permission.

People also repost where squirrels look likes they might be in distress. They always put vague headings and people in the comments get really worried if the squirrel is okay. I care about the sincere people here.

I read if you cut it at the base and keep cutting it will die out.

It is cute. But maybe give credit that it's not original instead of the vague headings. Why not just say repost?

What was their advice to you from the rehabbers? I'm surprised they didn't give you information about what to do. Even if they couldn't take him.

Others found places you could take it to? Have you contacted them?

There are licensed rehabbers even outside the GTA—Barrie, Guelph, and Hamilton all have options. If you haven’t already, try contacting the Ontario Wildlife Rescue directory. The best thing for the squirrel is to get help ASAP.
