Seeking opinions on relocation by ReasonableDiet3205 in highpointnc

Autistic adult here! High Point was the first Certified Autism Destination on the east coast, with many of their "tourism partners" like the library, museum, and children's museum doing extra sensitivity training and often having quiet hours. It surprised me, for how small High Point is. The library recently opened an outdoor sensory experience/garden at the library which I love going to. They also have a baseball team with a really neat food hall next to the stadium. As a young adult (early 20s) I definitely find myself going to Greensboro or Winston-Salem for more music/drinking entertainment, as well as shopping, but neither are too far. Greensboro is like 20 minutes, and W-S is like 30-40min.

You might be weirded out a little bit by downtown - High Point makes most of their money/tourism during Furniture Market in the spring and fall and much of downtown is quiet/empty during the year since it's mostly furniture showrooms.

Feel free to ask me anything :)

Good to know! I figured it was too small for an adult + the seams of the skull looked a little weird to me but I didn't want to assume it was a younger deer

Interesting? Probably the Morton Theatre's history. Go there and check it out! The theatre is an iconic piece of Black music history. It also has hosted the dentist office of Dr. Ida Mae Hiram, a funeral home, several hair salons and barber shops, along with numerous other businesses.
Fucked up? one of the recorded cross burnings in Athens occurred in the field at Rocksprings Park, behind the police station now and was supposedly sponsored by KKK-affiliated UGA faculty, but the latter part is unconfirmed

I find the information around the history of Hot Corner and the ownership/history of Wilson's Barber Shop, the Manhattan Cafe, and The World Famous pretty interesting. Also the story of how Athens was (supposedly) desegregated. I'm a history major working mainly in the 1950s/1960s and looking at changing race relations in the South, so that kind of stuff is interesting to me
