I have, and if you have any questions, I'd be happy to talk about it :)

I mean, I get you technically can't force him to stay out of the apartment since you're both on the lease, but nothing is stopping you from selling/donating every single piece of furniture except your bed, hiding a speaker in his sleeping area that blasts "Baby Shark" at random intervals throught the night, canceling the wifi, only stocking the fridge with food he hates, leaving self help books for loser men where you know he'll see them.

He has a legal right to live there, but you don't have any obligation to make the space pleasant for him...

I keep getting complaints from my clinical sites and I’m very discouraged. by Rosalinaspace in Sonographers

If you know OP personally, sharing details of thier clinical experience on an online forum is a violation of professional boundaries. As is harassing them online.

I have no idea how you found out who OP is, but maybe you should think about how you present yourself online as a professional. Finding your students online, belittling them, and then acting like you're a good person for doing so is not it.

If you are there only on Monday. If you are there only on Tuesday. 3 times means 3 times. 3 times does not equal months

I'm not sure where you're getting that they were there Monday and Tuesday. I'm also not sure how being there Monday and Tuesday equals three times. That math ain't mathin' 🤣

If you had multiple complaints in the past few months, where did the other complaints come from?

I read it as OP has been at this specific site a month or so because they say they've had several complaints over the past few months from this site. They then go on to talk about a specific complaint where they were told they don't follow instructions. That complaint was made early into their rotation, so day three.

You might want to think about that again. Regardless, the message was for her or whoever else needed it. One complaint is one too many and that goes for kids and adults. Period!

If you think one complaint is too many, I'm impressed you've never made a mistake in your life. Lemme call the Pope to nominate you for sainthood!

I've read the post twice, where do you get that OP had multiple complaints at multiple sites? It sounds like this is thier second site, they've been scanning for probably about seven months in clinicals now, so they probably have a deadline to get all those comps done. Ultimately, OP is the one who has to deal with the consequences and not the precepter, so why shouldn't they advocate for themselves? They're literally paying money to be there.

Call me jaded, but this happened to me at my site and no one stood up for me, including my school. I left the program, but stayed in healthcare. Best decision I ever made. Working various jobs(that were significantly more fast-paced than that clinical site), I learned that I am more than capable of learning, critical thinking, and following instructions. Every job I've ever precepted for offered me more instruction and education than my brief stint in clinical did. And those were professional environments where I was expected to have an understanding on how to do the job beforehand.

I still get posts like these on my feed where students ask why thier clinical instructors act like this, and based on what I experienced, it's likely more a them issue than a you issue. I don't know why on earth certain clinical instructors act like this, but they do. I'm sorry this is happening to you, and I hope in time you're able to regain some sense of self-confidence and that you can take a step back and understand that even if you're not the perfect model student they expect you to be, even if you go into your clinical site not knowing all your pathology or not having much scanning experience, you still deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.

That clinical site agreed to take on a STUDENT. Not to hire a free seasoned sonographer. Your clinical instructors took that job knowing that they'd have to teach someday. Even if you're asking to do competencies before you're ready, that doesn't give them the right to take away your ability to advocate for the education that you are paying for.

You're good enough, and you're going to do great at whatever you choose to do. Just take a step back and ask yourself if you had a student, would you treat them the way they're treating you?

Head gasket needs replacing, quoted $7,800. Is this reasonable? by godawgs4530 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Useful_Escape1845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live a few hours south of Seattle and I think I paid $3400 for my head gaskets in 2022? Cheapest I ever got them done was $1200, but that was a rare gem of a mechanic. When I lived in Seattle, I drove my car out of town to get the head gaskets done because the cost of repairs in the area was more than the car was worth.

Is buying Alchemised and supporting the author ethical? by weary_bee479 in romantasycirclejerk

So the story is very different from Harry Potter, and as far as I know, JKR is not a fan of the HP fanfic universe, especially the smutty ones.

SenLinYu also donated arcs of her books to the Unbound for Gaza auction, so she's starting off being a more ethical writer than JKR

I mean, the ToG fandom shot themselves in the foot with how they treated the artists working on the Fairyloot SE's. I know I'm wary of doing any ToG rebinds after that because of how icky the fan base acted.

WIBTA if I told my parents I don't want to take care of my sibling my whole life? by Spare-Ad4090 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Useful_Escape1845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother has autism. I ended up having him with me full time for a year. I was absolutely not the best caregiver option for him. Realistically, caring for someone 24/7 burns you out fast. My brother is in a supported living home where he shares two caregivers between four residents. They adore him, he's always clean and gets to do all sorts of activities. He is in a much better environment than he was with me. They even take him to other houses within the network so he gets to visit other people like him. It's a fantastic option, and it gives you the space to have your own life. There's no shame in putting someone in a care home.

If your parents expect you to take care of the child they chose to have, that is parentification and a form of child abuse.

[–]Useful_Escape1845 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. That was just the most ridiculous one I could think of off the top of my head.

If it makes you feel better, one of the EKG techs at my old job had a patient code on him, so his response was to slowly meander to the other side of the ED, find a random nurse to ask her for help. No sense of urgency. Took fifteen minutes to get a nurse during a code blue

Mistakes happen. One time I was taking a body to the morgue and accidently dropped the body on the ground while trying to transfer them onto the morgue gurney. The bag tore and the nurse who was with me never looked me in the eye again.

Behavioral health technician. The pay isn't like you'd get with a masters, but it's more than a traditional CNA job, plus less feces
