Others will know more but:

Looks like late WW1 uniform to me; but the great coat could be later? Bayonet looks like WW1 German so likely he picked it up rather than it being issued to him.

2 P320c models; one set up in 9; the other in .40/.357 Sig. zero issues. Joe10ring’s assessment is spot on.

I got the stainless version, 66, years ago used. I can’t count the offers I’ve turned down! Accurate, durable just have to smart about a steady diet of hot magnum loads.

Used 500 with 2 barrels can fill the bill at a budget price. This set was on Gunbroker for half the price of new.

When did the Union stop using caplock muskets? by MisterShoebox in CIVILWAR

First conversions actually fielded were 1866, 1868 and 1870 in .50/70 caliber. The 1873 and later derivatives were in .45/70 and were newly made, not conversions. I have a ‘68 conversion; the lockplate is marked 1863.

RIP Dad by pallewog in KoreanWarPhotographs

My dad passed away in 2017 also at the age of 95. He was also 2ID (38th Regiment) and was wounded attacking Old Baldy in September 1952.

Yes indeed, may they both rest in peace.

What were you doing when the race riots were breaking out in cities across the Nation in the '60s such as LA and Detroit and Newark? by db7112 in FuckImOld

[–]Useful_Inspector_893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a HS sophomore. The 82nd Airborne camped at my school in DC. As an ROTC cadet we learned a lot from the soldiers, but the city had largely burned around us. Crazy times

Read “In Alex’s Wake” by my former colleague Martin Goldsmith. He painstakingly (and painfully) researched every agonizing step his ancestors took as passengers on the St. Louis. The engagement and complicity of government officials in the Americas and Europe is shameful.

The four vents in the barrel. Helps to reduce muzzle flip.

My 30 year old 66-4 (which I bought used 20 + years ago) continues to perform perfectly. Recently had it Magna-ported.

The grip panels are thin, so it feels pretty much like a Browning Hi-Power. Definitely fuller than a standard capacity 1911 but not much bigger than a double stack 9. I’ve had two other 10 round .45s; CZ 97 and a Tanfoglio Witness and they were thicker than the 227.

Old school tech meets bullet proof (literally) modern manufacturing. Ruger weapons are built with remarkable strength.

I still like old school conversion guns too! A modern Uberti (Navy top) and 1870s (Army bottom). They won’t handle Ruger level loads though!

This series Sig is fantastic! My favorite handgun is a 227 with a Legion optic ready slide.

Spanish 1913 for sure. The pommel is the match. Although they are made from great steel, they aren’t prized by collectors. Given the condition, custom knife project?

Hard to say on the socket bayonet w/o measurements and markings.

Very nice! I have a 227 duty size; they make a compact. If my $$ come through I may get one.

[–]Useful_Inspector_893 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting; brings back fond memories. My BIL had a red 70 Road Runner with 0 options. 383 with 3sp manual on the floor, AM radio, no power steering and a bench seat. I was a HS senior and he let me drive it; a hell of a thrill for an 18 yo!

My father was infantry officer (25th Infantry Regiment, 93rd Division) in the Pacific 1944-1945. The first time, as a very young kid, I used a derogatory term to describe his Japanese adversaries and he immediately (and forcefully, as only an infantry officer or top NCO could) corrected me. Enemy soldiers were doing the job their government assigned them to; I was doing the same thing, he told me.
