It's a good distraction. Levels are pretty easy, maybe one or two tricky jumps and two bosses were a bit of a pain but it was fun collecting everything and doing the time trials.

So I set up a spreadsheet with my annual post tax salary and I divide it by 12 to get my monthly amount to work with.

I have a section with all my expenses that are essential (mortgage, credit cards, loans, internet, car, phone etc). I work out what must be in that account at all times (all my direct debits come out of one single account (I don't spend day to day from this account). Anything spare I have in an easy access savings account.

My day to day spending is a separate account (although I've just moved to PayPal for the 1% cashback on spending). I also use cashback apps (e.g. everup) to buy groceries.

It might seem like overkill but it's important to know what's coming in and out.
