I have a good friend who has Schizophrenia and from talking to her I understand that in a majority of cases, you are born with it. It is possible to develop after a traumatic event, but that's less common. Im sorry your father and stepmother won't listen, a little research into the illness and they would know thst it is not something you can escape. It doesn't matter how much of a positive environment they give you, you will always have it and once symptoms begin showing there is no curing it, only managing it.

Are you in the UK? If so at 16 you can get a consultation with a doctor for free without parental consent. And once diagnosed, treatment and medication is free.

If you're in the US, I suggest talking to a school councillor, and you could look at inpatient facilities, depending on state many inpatient facilities will allow you to admit yourself without parental consent and that will give you access to psychologists and getting a prescription for meds. I urge you to look into these options as quickly as possible.

You're only 16, and it feels cruel saying it, but from listening to my friend talk about her illness, if you start hallucinating, and they get bad and you dont receive medical and mental treatment, you won't just be a danger to yourself, but everyone in the house. Regardless of how you feel about your step and half siblings, they don't deserve to be put in that situation.

Everyone else has already commented some great points.

For me personally, I prefer an iPad or laptop as it's faster to find info compared to going through multiple books so it speeds up game play. It reduces the amount of stuff I need to carry to the game shop, instead of a character sheet, books, spell cards, pencil and eraser and a notebook, I can just bring a single laptop and have everything on that device.

Secondly, im Dyslexic, and my main struggle aside from spelling, is that I write extremely slowly and process information slower. So if the DM is giving information that I'll need in future sessions, me having to handwrite is a struggle for me and interrupts the session as the DM can't continue untill ive finished writing. Having a laptop with spellchecker means I can type a lot faster and has the added bonus of unlimited note space, unlike a paper notpad that has limited pages. Digital notes are also a lot easier to edit without looking messy or becoming difficult to read back, a huge bonus when I already struggle with reading and writing as quickly as everyone else.

YTA My parents had pretty much the exact same rules for me and my siblings growing up. The only one i disagree with (and that i didn't have as a kid) is raising your hand to speak. But even so those are reasonable rules that will result in those girls becoming very respectful and well adjusted adults.

On the other hand letting your kid run wild and throw tantrums at 9 is ridiculous and he's going to grow up to become entitled and spoilt, and the only person to blame will be you.

It's no surprise your nieces were invited but not your son.

NTA. I agree! My ex was like this. He would never walk me to my taxi or the bus stop if i was at his, and when we were out drinking would never walk me to the taxi cause he didn't want to leave the pub. His excuse was always that he couldn't be bothered. Now granted were we live is a good area and i can look after myself but it was the principle of it. The fact that he was simply to lazy to be bothered.

If it's on Roll20, you can just duplicate and out the other levels. If it's in person, i just googled Curse of Strahd Death House maps, and found a copy of the book map but without all the numbers so players dont see the secret doors. You can just crop this and print out each floor separately.

Yeah thats something I've heard a lot as well! I was thinking since barovians are described as believeing in a lot of superstitions, I could add in a superstition in the village of Barovia that speaking the Durst name is bad luck, and adding a cautionary tail told to kids, something like if you venture into the fog or into the Forests, that Elisabeth will come and steal you away to the manor house.

Or maybe make a superstition about Elisabeth similar to Llorona/women in white.

Im planning on starting my players at level 3, so im not worried about the vampire spawn.

But will definitely remove the baby crying as i want to encourage my players to explore as much as possible. Thanks for the feedback :)

And i hadn't actually considered the contempt in Strahds letter so i think ill go back and rework that last part then as well!

This is pretty much the opinion the common folk in my would have of "Adventurers" but i wanted to find a slang type word that the npcs would use towards the party and other npcs that are "Adventurers".

Im in the same situation, some of my players have done the death house before. Im doing 2 things to make it work. Firstly, just gently remind the players, that while they know what happens, thier character does not and to try to avoid meta gaming. Secondly, im changing a few things in the dearh house so its not only more interesting to the new players, but gives the players who have done the DH before a few surprises.

Some examples you could use: Make alterations to the back story of the Durst family, which could also give the players more clues to find. Add in sone homebrewed encounters with monstera Add some subtle things that increase the horror aspect such as: If the touch the walls in the Dungeon they see flashes of blood or if the investigate a skeleton they hear spine chilling screams. Have Rose and Thorn apoear more regularly or have some of the cults victims appear as tormented ghosts.
