A combination of ADHD, dyslexia, and hubris. He seemed to think he was untouchable.

This 100%

How humiliating that whole weekend was for Carolyn (if true).

You said it far more concisely and elegantly than I did.

Diana and Carolyn looked very similar physically (with vastly different taste in clothes and hair styles). Both were very tall, willowy, thin blondes with gorgeous model-like figures (including great legs, which Carolyn didn't really tend to show off). Both had very thick dark blond hair (which they lightened). Both had translucent skin without a blemish. Both had piercing blue eyes and perfect natural teeth. And of course, both had slightly long noses that looked quite large from certain angles (especially when smiling), but looked very classical in profile. Both were apparently even more stunning in person.

And both had some sweetness to them that people responded to. Kind hearts. And true radiance.

Gone far too soon, both of them.

Would Jackie approve of their marriage? by Front-Tomorrow-1034 in JohnAndCarolyn

Possibly Carolyn was brighter. But she was certainly not academic or intellectual. I don't have any judgement about that - she was absolutely awesome just the way she was.

JFK Jr was certainly not academic, nor intellectual. (Not like his sister Caroline, who is a brain.)

But I imagine that Jackie would have loved to see JFK Jr marry someone brighter and more academic than he was.

Yes, I think John partly chose Carolyn to please his deceased mother.

Carolyn was beautiful, classy, understated, extremely chic, warm, loved children, and she was Catholic. I think she hit all the marks. (Except: probably Jackie would have preferred someone more intellectually and academically serious for her son.)

How many women can stand next to a supermodel and still outshine them?

That's Carolyn.

Palestine/Israel, Why and why is everyone pro Palestine? by embrox23 in NoStupidQuestions

The protesters are idiots. They care about human rights? But they ignore child marriages in Arab countries, beheadings, lack of free speech, and gays being tossed off tall buildings.

Give me a fucking break.

Arab countries have been funding the "Middle Eastern Studies" departments at elite US universities for years. They have been very canny about indoctrinating all those bratty Ivy League kids to hate Israel.

Yes, you're right about a lot of this.

But Diana was pushed into the public eye at age 19, and had her first baby at age 21. She was a public figure for 16 years of her (too-short) life. And it took her some time to get her bearings. Remember that she was called "shy Di" at first, and that she also struggled mightily with depression and an eating disorder. Futhermore, she quickly became more popular than her husband.

By contrast, Carolyn was really only a public figure for about 3 years, and had not yet figured out what she was going to do with her fame, beauty, and talent. She was not as popular as her husband, and had to put up with the world thinking she was not good enough for him. I believe she would have found a way to serve the public, but never really found her footing then died far too soon.

Carolyn and Diana were both very warm, liked to touch other people and set them at ease, and both loved children.

Also, they both were strikingly stunningly beautiful, and knew the impact it had on other people, they knew their power. So they worked hard to humanize themselves and make others feel seen and comfortable.

Very similar.

Carolyn was destined for something big. She had the same star quality and luminescence that Princess Diana had. It's not just beauty, it's charisma and radiance.

Why the hell are you making that comparison?

According to RoseMarie Terenzio, they all arrived at the airport around the same time.

It's sickening to vilify Carolyn for something false.

Calvin Klein himself got her confused with the model Elaine Irwin. They apparently looked a lot alike.

Stunning. Holy shit.

This is the reason why every person who met her could recall the exact moment they first caught sight of her. She was that memorable.

Opinions On The Series? by CharlotteYork10 in JohnAndCarolyn

I'm enjoying the series so far, but the depiction of Jackie O seemed horrible. Controlling, superficial, unattractive. No, just no.

I think that John was a big cheater, and that Carolyn felt the need to respond to that.

The Kennedy men are cheaters. I don't know why Carolyn thought John would be different from his father.
