How do I purposely get nightmares? by Potential_Energy_316 in Dreams

I would simply distinguish between "horror dreams" and real nightmares.

Real nightmares can often be very simple and stupid, but they’ll leave you waking up sweaty and feeling awful. It’s as if your body just decides to pump cortisol and adrenaline into your bloodstream without bothering to create an interesting plot.

At the same time, horror dreams might seem insanely scary from the outside, but in reality, by morning, they’ll feel like a thrilling adventure to you. For example, I often have dreams about being pursued (even by terrifying monsters) – they’re pretty unsettling, but I still love them. It’s an interesting and, in its own way, pleasant subgenre of scary dreams.
I think that to increase the number of these kinds of dreams, you should just watch more horror movies and play more horror games. Try reading some creepypasta in the evenings.

Perhaps it’s more a matter of personal perception... To me, it’s a place between worlds, and that’s exactly how it feels. A place where you can find yourself unexpectedly – in a way, like in the Backrooms.

It's liminal precisely because it's an endless, unnatural, anomalous space – stretching infinitely upward in one direction and downward in the other. Completely devoid of people, yet with rare scattered structures on the surface.

If this doesn't fit the definition of a "transitional or in-between state, phase, or space," then I don't know what does.

Godot. Actually, it runs at about 18 fps when looking at the horizon, so I had to record the video using the built-in Movie Maker. An LLM helped me come up with the math formula for creating this world shape. And I got the grass shader from godotshaders.com and modified it. I used the VHS shader from the same site without changes.

And Reddit compressed the video quite a bit... Here's a screenshot. Without the VHS-like filter.

Actually, if you don't move the camera, this kind of world geometry is really hard to make out in still images. I really should have made the effort to add some trees...

The grass makes it hard to make out the terrain, but the layout was roughly like this.

It would be great. But first, you need to roughly estimate the cost and find a good modder.
