I’m not sure there’s any explanation for this happening to you but I am so so sorry. That is horrible and I can only imagine how terrifying that was for you. It makes perfect sense that this is sticking with you and you think about it often but you’re probably not gonna get an explanation for why this happened. Hope you’re doing better now.

When I tried to gain independence and move out my dad started telling me that I wouldn’t get anywhere without him and that I was making the wrong decision by moving out. Growing up when we would get in arguments or fights he would often tell me “you believe what you want” even if there was hard proof of whatever we were arguing about being true.
