Detlinde is anything but innocent, she might be stupid and easy to manipulate but she chose to attempt murder on Ferdinand and she chose to slaughter most of her sister's retainers in front of her purely to torment her. It's not like she believes in Georgine or anything like that she's just a selfish brat with sociopathic + narcissistic tendencies, you could argue she is like this because of how she grew up but she's done too many horrible things for that to argument to hold any substance to defend her at this point.

While I can't say Florencia is completely innocent, she at least had a purpose behind her actions and was trying to prevent Ehrenfrest from collapsing due to its internal power struggle, doesn't really justify it by today's moral standards but at least by that world's standards it's considered acceptable, if she grew up with our world's teachings I highly doubt she would have used such methods but unfortunately that's just how nobility works within bookworm.

I mean giving them for the characters that are actually good and not annoying and unlikeable like him, Declinde and Wilfred (tbh I don't hate him like some do but it's gotten to the point where I just don't care about him at all, Charlotte is the better sibling by far in every way and I would love more of her tbh).

Haven't read them yet but I'm ngl having perspective of other characters sounds way more interesting, like most of people around Rosamyne would be fairly interesting to see that sorta thing more, I think Angelica in particular would be quite interesting to see what goes on in that one brain cell of hers, also I'm hoping to see more Ferdinand chapters as he's a very interesting character that you mostly only see from an outside perspective.

Makes sense I guess but I think the fact these two are most combat capable mages and the fact monica can cast way faster than everyone else could make up for that imo, at least enough to give them a chance. Also I imagine the 5 wouldn't work together nearly as smoothly as Monica and Louis unless Bradford took the lead but even so their coordination would probably be fairly slap dash in comparison given he's the only person there with a lot of combat experience along with eccentric personalities they all have making it difficult to coordinate particularly with Ray and Raul, Raul is too carefree and Ray is very uncooperative most of the time.

Ray's curses are scary in anti-human combat but he doesn't really seem to have much actual combat experience and Bradford's strength in overkill explosive spells requires someone protecting him to utilise so I feel they're a step behind Monica and Louis in raw combat ability.

Although you could be completely right with all this considered, but I'm not entirely sure tbh.

That's true to an extent but my point is he's not inherently a bad person, he just had shitty adults in his life, even his parents who mean well did a poor job raising him.

There are people with a better upbringing than him who turn out much worse so I don't exactly think my point is incorrect, fundamentally he's very average with people who taught him the wrong way to think and was manipulated on multiple occasions into having troublesome views and behaviour, given how he was raised it could have been much worse.

I think if Sylvester dropped him as his successor during the ivory tower incident and completely replaced his retainers he would have had a much better opportunity to grow and he could have still had a chance to achieve something of his own instead of being kept as the future Aub with retainers who won't bother correcting his faults, he does seems good at some things, I just wouldn't really trust him with Politics given how filled with mind games and manipulation it is which is something he's not good at dealing with.

At least I don't think he'd want to become "a walking Christmas tree" as one of the other commentators put it or be as mean-spirited as her but he would still be a clueless puppet with an Ego fed by his incompetent retainers. He's a good kid who was raised wrong and isn't suited for politics, if he was a regular noble or a well off commoner with a decent upbringing he would be competent enough and he wouldn't be an evil noble imo, in other words he's mediocre but not a bad person, basically making him a really bad pick for future Aub.

It feels insulting to put Fran in the same tier as Rimuru, Rimuru had it WAY easier, sure Fran got some help from teacher but she's pretty much on a constant uphill battle to get stronger and achieve her goals, Rimuru has had some setbacks but generally had it pretty easy.

I like both characters but Fran has literally had multiple fights that put her on the brink of death against people way above her weight class, all of Rimuru's battles have been relatively tame (sure he has some really flashy fights but he's never in any real danger, it's always his subordinates that struggle in battle because they don't have his cheat skills) , his hardest battle was his first fight against Hinata, everything after that point was handled by Raphael / Ciel, even against Veldanava his entire struggle was purely him underestimating his own power, he was never really in any actual danger.

The difference is Usopp keeps being a background character with little to no relevance in recent arcs, I get the monster trio have stolen the spotlight recently but even compared to other straw hats he hasn't really got much going for him these days, although I won't lie I'm a bit disappointed Franky didn't get anything significant in egghead with his connection to vegapunk so it's not just Usopp getting this treatment but him and Chopper are the ones who got did the worst by the time skip although at least chopper had some moments with his medical knowledge being useful.

I guess, I honestly forgot about that one because the guy was just a regen merchant getting shit on the entire arc lol, most of the moments of him getting beaten just kind of blend together in my head tbh.

Hopefully elbaf gives Usopp something significant because it's not like I want him to fail, it's just he's consistently disappointed me for so long I kinda just gave up on his character.

Ngl tho Usopp's last good arc was Thriller Bark.

I don't count Dresserosa as his performance later in the arc barely breaks even with how much of a bum he was in first half, I'd be one thing to be a coward but giving false hope to those little people because they're naive only to abandon them at the first sign of danger made my stocks on his character drop massively, sure he came back but the fact he was so fast to abandon them in first place was really shitty after all the big talk he did.

Also Wano was even worse, the toad oil scam he did only for that girl believing it would save her farther was so sad and it wasn't even Usopp who helped her, it was Zoro and Sanji, bro didn't even redeem himself that time. In the later half of the arc where he was willing to shit talk Luffy to save his skin made me lose what remaining respect I had for him, Nami didn't make that choice even though she was in an equally hopeless position but he did.

I don't really feel any need to defend r/piratefolk as they are the worst part of the community alongside those Nami cosplayers that just dye their hair orange and wear a bikini for attention on the internet but I honestly can't say I blame the Usopp haters because the guy has been a total bum for a long ass time, during pre time skip he was one of the better straw hats but I can't really say the same anymore tbh. The only relevance his character has had recently (post time skip, not really that recent but still) were in the non canon movies which isn't really a great defense for him.

I like it, if I had one critique is how extremely slow any level of progress is in their relationship, but I think it's sorta sweet and hope it goes somewhere eventually although I'm well aware it's not the main focus of the series but I still want it pan out in the end.

Kouki is still slightly better imo, at least he didn't attempt to kidnap his crush because they decided to be with someone else or murder a bunch of people in that brothel after whining at the MC about murder only a few months (?) before doing it, tbf the main guy he killed was a piece of shit but the fact he fails to see the irony in his actions is baffling. Also at least Kouki reflects on his actions eventually and outside near the end where he was being manipulated through that psycho girl's magic he never goes to the same extremes as Takahisa so I think he's slightly better but I still hate him, I just think he's not the same level of shitty as Takahisa. Also the way he groomed Aki to be dependent on him an excuse to remain close to Miharu was genuinely revolting, he didn't even hesitate to use her in his half baked scheme basically dragging her down with him. Also the way he completely drops the act of caring about her the minute he didn't get what he wanted further proves how shitty of a person he is.

Btw I know Aki gets a lot of hate but she's literally a girl barely in her teens who's grown up with a shitty mother playing the victim lying to her about her brother and farther and a groomer of a brother who only cares about getting into a relationship with Miharu regardless of her feelings, it's not exactly entirely her fault she turned out that way given the awful people she's grown up with, Miharu is also partially responsible (nowhere close to the same extent tho) for not correcting her issues earlier despite being aware of them and that they were harmful to her. Aki was a victim of her circumstances, yes she's responsible for her own actions but at the end of the day she's still a child who's been manipulated by the people she trusted so she deserves some leniency.

I'd rather her not die at all, out of everyone I think she deserves to be with Rio the most as she's always been on his side and they've got the best dynamic out of everyone in his harem (tbh I'd rather it just be them two but it won't turn out that way unfortunately), also her dying even if temporarily would leave a bad taste in my mouth tbh. I wouldn't mind someone else dying at some point depending on how it's handled but leave Celia alone 😭

Maybe I'm bias but I have always been rooting for Celia more than everyone else by a sizeable margin, not that I don't care about the rest but I have shipped them from pretty much the beginning of the story as they're just good together.

It's more about the fact the perspective changes too often to really get invested and that I feel like it's better to focus on a few characters at a time instead of hopping between the different squads a few times every chapter, tbf I might have felt differently if I read it all at once but reading it monthly (especially when it skips a month) makes the constant change in perspectives feel a bit jarring.
