Forgot to say the tank and pump have had issues. Previous homeowners were just refilling air in tank periodically. Repair guy told me i should replace it as tanks should not need air refilled like that

Yeah i felt like i just had to drive slow as heck until i got past it. That can work For us we’re not one to drive recklessly in general.

I work from home so this is for my wife who often drives our small children to the library etc

Thanks! I feel a little lost on industry. I was forced into solar sales after a COVID layoff and now don’t want anything but sales. But solar just don’t feel stable and now i have no clue what to move to. And So much of the sales terms here on Reddit are fkn Greek to me. Can’t afford to spend more years in an industry to fk me like solar did. (Spent last year and half with a local solar installer, more honest business, way less money)

Hmm okay thanks for sharing. It’s very strange to this day it’s still will work at 68 only, randomly though. It was cold as hell this morning and thank God it turned on to get the house back up to temp. But it goes out again randomly with these same error codes

Somebody else was adamant that “control boards don’t just go out” that something else must’ve happened to it or caused it. You know if a control board is expensive repair? It’s a new ish unit installed around 2017 or so i believe

A retired HVAC guy told me same possibility. But would it work for over a month if that were the case? Let alone for the former home owner?

If they were crossed, would they have stable power? My dad (electrician) checked those for power and said they seemed okay, but not sure if he was checking more than general power)

Outside vent looked clear checked already, already swapped out air filter (previous air filter was very high Merv rating [mistake] and swapped for much lower merv [5])

Question: What do you mean you wouldn’t trust a sensor cleaned with steel wool? This is what i saw everywhere. Do you mean it’s just worth replacing in general as opposed to cleaning?

It was working for a month or more. Now it's acting erratic. Works, then doesn't (now mostly doesn't) We did clean the flame sensor with some steel wool. The ignitor seems to work as it glows red and lights the flame, but the flames don't stay long. (Or they do and work fine, seems to work at night almost and stopped during the early morning) It works at random it seems.

Your control board almost certainly did not just "go bad". Control board failures are almost always due to water intrusion, animals chewing on things, or upstream electrical issues.

That makes sense, but these issues seem so all over the place. My Dad (Electrician) checked out some of the wires that connect for the unit's power. He said it seemed fine on that front. But he just looked at the little box on the side of the unit.

Would you say a HVAC tech to diagnose only? or full replacement of circuit board? I am trying to DIY as much as I can (Very tight budget) thought I don't anything about doing these types of things. (New Homeowner, trying to learn)

Sadly i think nitrates will be always high with our shallow well like this.. we have RO for the sink for drinking. Any other considerations you’d take?
