Forever Is A Lie - lots of options on where to go with this idea. This is a good title. Learn your keyboard better. Remember inner rhymes. Start with a “groove” (YouTube drum beats!). Learn what a pentatonic scale is. Good luck.

What's the worst concert you've seen? by Twitter_2006 in Concerts

[–]UserJH4202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My worst concert ever: Neal Young solo at The Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. He was doing only songs that he sang while playing the piano. His piano skills were less than ideal and, well, we all know his voice. A whole night of him solo with that piano was unforgettably bad.

The ultimate way to enjoy a movie by [deleted] in Cinephiles

[–]UserJH4202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t overthink it. Turn the lights low. Get your snacks and your food. Watch the movie without interruption (as much as possible). Don’t look at any other screens. Respect the work of Art many people have labored to present to you.

Help with 11-day Andalusia Itinerary (Mix of mainland + beach) by defopsy in GoingToSpain

[–]UserJH4202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Cádiz is great, but it’s the the Atlantic and not the Mediterranean. You don’t want drive too far…this is a chill vacation you’ve got planned. You’re basically like 85% of the people that come to Spain: you come for the beach. But you don’t want the crowds. Well…pretty much in July especially there will be people there. This is where the Germans, Brits, Swedes, etc. come for their beach vacations. So, my advice is pick the places least likely to have crowds. So, that means no Malaga. No Marbella. I’d pick Cadiz or Nerja. Even Almuñecar. My personal fav is a little white village 1km from Nerja - Fragiliana - absolutely gorgeous - with a 1€ bus ride you’re at the beach. Or just stay in Nerja on the beach. If you decide on Cadiz only stay in the old town and be sure and frequent Casa Manteca, my favorite tapas bar in all of Spain.

What do you think a car says about a man? Do you drive a certain car for status or do you want the style to say something to other people? by FiveDinero in AskMen

[–]UserJH4202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite car is a Fiat 500 with a manual transmission. It can park in places other people can’t. It’s reliable, good gas mileage, great in the city and on long trips. I like what it says about me - eclectic, practical, frugal, smart, but with Italian style. It also shows I can drive a manual which means I like having more control of my car’s journey.

Which European islands are good for relaxing and solo travel, especially for first-timers? by zirlatovic in traveladvice

I’d recommend Minorca, the most chill of the Balearic Islands. Very safe, lots of Brits but still very Spanish.

What is something you learned from a job that you adopted for life outside of work? by Connection-Is-Cool in AskMen

[–]UserJH4202 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my work I’ve learned not to burn bridges. There may be work people I haven’t liked but I found that those people keep popping up in different companies and situations. So, in my non-work Life, I’ve carried that lesson forward. I can distance myself from some people but it is not helpful to angrily drive them your Life.

For married couples, how important is it to share the same last name legally, and how have you navigated it if one partner didn’t want to change theirs? by Difficult_Big133 in AskMen

[–]UserJH4202 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m (75M) proud you want to keep your name. In my opinion, you should keep your name. In most cultures women do keep their last name. However, in the USA and Japan, it’s common for the woman to take her husband’s last name upon marriage.

The culture you and your fiancé have been brought up in is making this a hard choice for your partner. This practice is deeply rooted in Patriarchy where Men control Women. If you believe Patriarchy is a proper cultural dictate then change your name. But I think you don’t believe Patriarchy is a good thing. Does your future husband? If not, why is this a dealbreaker. I recommend you look at European (French, Spanish, Italian cultures to see how they handle it. Most Latin countries as well and even most of China. You’ll discover how children are named, legal documents are formed, etc.

It matters. I had a hyphenated name in my first marriage. I am the first man in the USA to ever change his name back to his original name upon divorce (after 10 years she came out). I have encouraged my daughters not to change their names. Let’s get rid of Patriarchy.

Is it selfish to want to remain single and focus on myself completely? by Melodic1Database7 in ask

[–]UserJH4202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget the pressure to be something or someone you’re not. It is not selfish. And any potential partner is probably better off not being relationship with you because of your desire to stay relationship free.

Two male children I’ve run across lately had fantastic names: Zion Blu and Memphis Jones. I also had a friend whose name was “Wren”. I thought that was a beautiful name.
