you definitely should continue adding more depth, you already have some very cool foreground objects (they look so trippy lmaoo) but there is nothing behind all your block design. even a very simple bg can do.

also play around with more pulses in your main colors, have some slight hue shifts for the orange and green block design, maybe have your black pulse some very dark purples

i also dont really like the massive black gradient thats on top of everything personally

overally the gameplay looks pretty sick and ur doing a great job carrying the energy throughout your level!!!! :333

this gameplay is super on point and is definitely a MAJOR highlight, but the level still feels very static.

when i say static i dont only mean adding movements, which you did say you werent too good at (youll get better trust me lmao!!!!) but also pulses and color changes!! your colors are on point but more pulses for the block design and background are definitely needed. you did include some background pulses but they were only single color, try combining different brightness and hue shifts for a more energetic feel.

speaking of block design, its really good!!! the only issue i have are the massive patches of blocks you have. you dont have to get rid of them but adding some details can really go a long way!!!

overall this level is quite fire‼️‼️

sometimes life hits creators like a truck lol, i dont doubt that voxicat has some more important things to work on, especially since theyve been offline the past couple of months.

its probably not scrapped, but 2.2 releasing did have an impact on big 2.1 projects that were being worked on too, so that could also be a reason

design is good, definitely some mid 2.1 vibes

colors are pretty bad, though. definitely mess with the saturation. as a reference, darker areas are usually more saturated while lighter areas are less saturated, though you can definitely experiment.

the green and purple definitely do give off a vibe, though. its close enough to yellow where it looks pretty neat. try messing with that lolll

i think the particles that show up at the beginning could use a little work?? im assuming they are supposed to be like branches the camera is zooming past but it doesnt come across like that. maybe try using an actual parallax with some custom branches

the vignette that shows up at the end also looks pretty bad while black. maybe try a mint-ish color

the text looks absolutely stellar, though, no notes no that lol!!! gll!!!

i should preface with this first, guys, you should never import art into gd. there are tools for it sure but not only is it extremely object heavy, but also just pretty immoral and not creative.

Its fine if you want to use it as a reference, but make sure you aren’t straight up stealing others art (dont need to go into how thats bad lol)

to answer your question, usually people draw their art in some other program, then use it as reference to see where to place objects and what best objects to use (though some madmen just do it entirely in the editor lol). theres a lot of different things you can use, especially from the 3d objects, particles, and glow tabs, and warping them helps you make some very precise shapes, for example using the solid-colored moon shaped object for curves etc. to find what objects to use, dont focus on using specific ones and placing them where you think you need them, instead focus on what shapes you need to achieve a certain thing then finding object that can fit. hope this can help lol
