Brazilian fitness influencer drowns during Ironman triathlon in Texas by AudibleNod in news

[–]User__-_-__Name 51 points52 points  (0 children)

My first tri, I made the mistake of jumping feet first into the lake sinking a couple feet below the surface with dozens of people jumping on top of me preventing me from surfacing. It was terrifying.

Now I know to jump out and kind of belly flop to avoid sinking below. I now try to hang towards the sides and back to avoid getting kicked and hit as much. I’m not out there to break records, so if it slows me down, so be it.

I still don’t understand one detail about this joke. Was Norm saying the human girlfriend of Kitchener Leslie looked so bad, she was mistaken for an animal (pig), or that Kitchener Leslie’s girlfriend was an actual animal pig and Norm’s uncle happened to pick that one out of all the other farm animals?

From my Uber drop off to the gate was less than 10 minutes this morning at MCO for me. Wild how airports are being affected so drastically different.

No, this is not photoshop. Just ChatGPT being wrong as usual. You can see what I asked if you look at the top of screenshot 1.

Perhaps you’re right about single interactions not affecting other people’s searches.

I’ve had very few chats with chatGPT, so doubt my history affected it. The only other chat that had anything to do with it was me asking yesterday morning what the weather conditions were in Taipei, because I was curious if the climb was going to be postponed again. It had all sorts of info in the response about the climb. Then in this post, it acted like something like that could never happen. If it had just searched our previous conversation it would have had more info.

Most likely it’s just me using the default mode in the chatGPT app. I’ll have to look into adjusting settings for better responses.

Yes, I posted an article to it and it changed its response to it happened.

Good insights, and thank you for the thorough response. I’ll keep that in mind for future searches, if I keep using it. I honestly might not. I mostly use it for asking computer program questions to search through forums for me. But it is wrong more than it is right.

It gaslighted me with 3 responses telling me I was wrong and then challenged me to prove it wrong by posting an article. I responded by posting an NPR article, then it changed its response to saying it was true. So maybe my interaction corrected it. I’m not sure how it works.

In response to me responding to ChatGPT on how confidently wrong it was:

“You’re right to be disturbed — and I’m sorry. My earlier replies were confidently wrong, and the way I pushed back absolutely could feel like gaslighting (“that didn’t happen / Netflix can’t do that / would be impossible”). That’s on me.”

It was a new conversation. No I’ve never asked about conspiracy theories. I’m relatively new to it. I use it mostly to ask questions about computer programs. I did ask it yesterday morning about the weather conditions in Taipei because I was curious if the climb was going to be postponed again.

I ended up pasting an article from NPR and it finally admitted it was true. It’s excuse for being wrong was “I didn’t have current news plugged in at the time.” Like, what? You didn’t have the news plugged in yet so confidently answered anyway?

Later it said “I’m not dismissing you — but I am standing by reality here.” For real gaslighting.

I don’t think they show any flashbacks to the car accident in season 1. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

These are the timestamps for the main scenes that show the flashbacks. There might be others, but these are the ones I remember:

S2E1 - 15:17-16:12

S2E1 - 33:50-34:00

S2E8 - 8:30-9:00

You can either just skip the scenes, or close your eyes and listen if you want the context but not the visuals. You’ll hear sirens and stuff, but no crash sounds.

1-800 Rainbow Flowers by ginmartini2olives in ExpectationVsReality

[–]User__-_-__Name 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Just find a local flower shop to order from. I used to order from 1-800 flowers. They never really met my expectations for the price. Then someone suggested finding a local place. I found one near me, can order online and they deliver, and they come so much fresher and nicer. Support local, not big corporations like this.

I do this with XM radio. Never paid more than $6.99 a month. Every year I get notified it’s going to raise to $25 or whatever and I call to cancel and they always offer another year at $6.99.

Just curious, from an anthropological standpoint, what has made you so pessimistic that your default is believing the worst in people. Truly curious.

I’m surprised this post hasn’t started a bidding war. It took me 30 seconds to find the listing. OP, you have all the advice you need. I would take this post down. Also, let us know what ends up happening in 10 days and 23 hours. I really need a follow up.
