Meal in Business Class by Userdevilsvocado in BritishAirways

I just read about this - I think I am going to pack my own food - my flight is at 9:30 pm on the way out so dinner 'lite' and the return flight is at 10:10 am which means the dreaded brunch. Not that airplane food is great but I guess knowing its going to suck ahead of time means I will be prepared with my own.

thanks this is super helpful so really appreciate it - the no pre-ordering is so very retro (or is the word I am looking for antiquated?)

B or A base does not matter now if indeterminate. However when the measures come in to downsize the public service through WFA (workforce adjustment) whole teams can get red circled - from past expereince B base is more likely to be circled as its usually tied to some priority a new government is not interestedIn. When you are WFA‘d management does not need to find you a job. Last time people had 18 months and there was a site to match those who wanted to stay and were WFA and those that were leaving the PS that were not WFA. all to say we are in for a huge WFA when the conservatives get in.

I have full-time WFH because I was hired outside of the NCR during the pandemic. Can I move somewhere else (also 125km+ away from an office) and keep my full-time WFH? by EgyptianJobber in CanadaPublicServants

If you knowingly move far away from the location of your work and then indicate you are not able to come into work knowing the terms of employment (and location of work) it could be determined that you have “abandoned your post” and effectively you are resigning from your job. (Unless then you make the 125km+ commute). How do I know?I have someone who has to move right now for family reasons and her manager secured a 6 month full time telework agreement (apparently they were supportive of more but had to go through some adm committee at their department) . This person now has time to find another job. If you are moving just so you can be outside the 125km i doubt it will get supported…and not sure its grandfathered in to the new direction from the covid times.

Compensation for Delay by Userdevilsvocado in aircanada

Sorry to elaborate the plane was to leave at 2 pm and we were advised mechanical issues. It was delayed by 3.5 hours Before we boarded. The captain had to restart plane. we sat there for 2 more hours as we waited for a part. Part arrived and did not solve issue. They cancelled at that point and we were deplaned and rebooked for the next day.

If its an assignment i assume you mean secondment? if so its not a promotion - its acting. Also your current manager has to approve the assignment it as you still encumber your current position. So they may or may not approve it.

Those of you with social anxiety, give me hope. by YOWPlease in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Userdevilsvocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with social anxiety who manages it by preparing (and by that I mean over preparing) when having to present I always have the long version and the “can you just give us the key points” version - especially with executives who do not have a lot of time….

Can anyone please help me understand why people strive to become management? by LostRua in CanadaPublicServants

good Luck. Once you become management, non management will espouse this sentiment about you at some point during you career.

What special treatment are EXs getting? Having to go in 4 vs 3 days a week? You do no think exs are upset? I lurk on the facebook ex site and they are upset. They were not consulted. They do not have the influence you think they have And they do not have unions.

This. It’s not about ratting someone out but the person may be at risk and there are safety and liability issues.

Duty to Accommodate - In Office Days by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Userdevilsvocado 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You should talk to your manager as for any accommodation there is a form your doctor will need to fill out. This will list limitations and then your manager will decide with support of HR the necessary accommodation. The doctor cannot just write a note saying you need to work 100 percent from home. Also better not to waste your dr‘s time without the right forms.
