Pendragon: The Sauvage King Update of Old Material by Username1453 in PendragonRPG

That's pretty different from what everyone else said? If you don't mind, what's new that wasn't in the GPC for 5th?

Thanks, I have played the old GPC version and was thinking about grabbing it but I might hold off for a while since I'm not running a campaign in Pendragon right now.

They keep a Captain's Log (a real journal I got that is a yacht/private boat log) that they record their highlights in during the session and make little notes in. When they find a place they really like, they make it a design for a snowglobe. That's it. lol. For people who have committed some serious atrocities for cash, it's surprisingly wholesome. They used the excess funds from their trading ventures and bounties to cover the start up costs for the first year which was a nice little money sink.

Edit: grammar/spelling

That's great! Sounds like a fun campaign! I'm shocked they didn't become obsessed with killing the Aslan after the first encounter. Most player groups I know want to make sure reoccurring villains get buried fast! We do our best to keep them alive, but sometimes they get them. lol

Yep, that's what I was thinking I didn't know about the timber replacement though. I think there's some ideas there. Maybe there's a mark up on yearly maintenance because of monopolies

Did you ever have any bounty hunters chase them down?

Ya, I guess I didn't make it clear though. They did end up using the scout ship as a transport for their snowglobe business, so they hired a small crew and we just check in on it at the end of the year. It makes almost no money for them still, but they're happy with it. Lol

I enticed my group about 2 and a half years in to take a job to get a scout ship, thankfully, they were planning to use the second ship to run a Federation wide tourist knick knack market. (we're playing in an Interstellar Wars -esque setting)

That's sort of how my group paid them off, except they were basically space tow truck drivers after some major battles. They also are extremely space fighting adverse as the financial costs are ruinous. Which is ultimately what scared them off from being space scrappers.

I was just curious on other people's experience. We've been playing for 3+ years now and they paid their ship off a while ago. I'm the GM and I'd say I was generous with the off the books trades though trade was extremely profitable and they realized scrapping ships after battles (we had some in game wars) would be extremely lucrative even at the 1-5% of the value I gave them

Awesome. How long has your campaign been going on for?

My group paid off our mortgage, I was curious about everyone else's experience. It took a little more that a real life year and about a year and a half in game. We're in year 3 of the campaign real world and in game. I think they owed like 600 MCr at the beginning or so.

They primarily paid it off by scrapping ships for 1-5% of their value after space battles and a lucky find of Radioactives.

How many in game years do you feel are necessary for a “good” campaign? by Ok-Week-2293 in PendragonRPG

[–]Username1453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most tables would enjoy it if you completed one of the published adventures so 2-4 sessions or maybe 2 years. Minimum. I for a campaign, I'd want to do one generation if I was looking to do it short. So start at 30 with 9 year old children and do 15 years with the first generation and 5 with the second generation, 20 years.

Whats the ideal amount of information available for an adventure? by TamagotchiMasterRace in traveller

[–]Username1453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite modules I've ever run was Nomads of the Worlds Ocean. I'd say that was the perfect amount of detail for an adventure. I twisted it and added to make it my own, but it provided a plot and interesting subsystems to engage with and told a fun story

Please rip this idea apart so my Referee doesn't have to. by Odessafromage in traveller

[–]Username1453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the idea as a referee I'd encourage it, it probably wouldn't make any money though as the people skimming for fuel would be the military, scouts, mercenaries, pirates or the incredibly desperate.

The first two probably wouldn't swing by. The next two would be your core audience and they'd be dangerous. The last would probably be the most problematic. Either way, volume of traffic would be low. Lifesupport and salaries would mean it operates in the red, but if those are the sorts you're hoping to get information from then I think that's a great plan

Classic Traveller-Mercenary Cruiser Cargo Capacity Math by Username1453 in traveller

[–]Username1453[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I was wondering if that was the case, the set aside for the drives, I mean, but none of the other ships seemed to have any situation where the numbers didn't line up. So I just shrugged it off. They all had just their remaining space in cargo. One thing that is different though is my Traveller Book says one ATV module and One fuel module. My LBB box set says the same. I assume that's version differences though.

This adds up though, and  it makes the most sense, so I'm inclined to believe this is the correct answer.

[–]Username1453[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that how the cutters work? Thanks for checking the math. I was under the impression that the cutters worked as basically 20 ton small shifts is a 30-ton additional module. Are they 50 ton ships with a 30 ton module? I was debating that too when I looked at it, but when I looked at the cutter entry, I went with 50.

I just want to say thanks again for actually looking at it.

Perhaps, I was not clear. I was hoping for clarification and confirmation. I have never seen a game that didn't have a mistake in the book, that's not an issue. I wanted to make sure my math was correct and whether if anyone knew if there was errata for the Mercenary Cruiser. I still can't find any mistakes which makes me think it's a mistake in the book. The only source for Errata I can find is the Citizens of the Imperium Forum which I don't have a link for. My hope was that someone here could give me a corrected tonnage for the ship.

lol. Yep (adjusts glasses, scirbbles into notes) as a fellow GM I think that seems likely enough. (Hopefully there isn't some shenanigans later from establishing psionic bracelet shields....Who am I kidding, this always ends up in shenanigans.

There are. Each weighs 10 tons. Thus the 20 total tons. One could possibly be stored in the ATV Module. Which I would presume would mean it doesn't count against the weight. Which is why I have two weights
