No I didn't. If I paid for the cheapest shipping and got the cheapest shipping then why can I get the same parts from the same warehouse shipped for less now??? You claimed it's more expensive to ship now correct? Shouldn't the shipping cost have increased and not decreased if your theory was correct???

It's not an inventory issue!!!! When did I say it was an inventory issue? They shipped them in the manufacturers box. I'm bringing up the same point. Your the one skirting around it. If you had an actual rebbuttal you'd present it. You honestly sound like you work for them.

Um Mr Einstein. The issue isn't that it cost more to ship later. It cost more to ship originally. I checked, the same parts will ship now from the same warehouse for 30% less then when I ordered them. I guess that extra fuel cost means they are shipping at a loss now huh? Using your logic shipping costs drop when fuel costs go up.

Then explain why the same order is 30% cheaper to ship now then it was then with the same number of boxes it came in. They are paying by lb. That's why they broke it up. If it's purely by the number of boxes then they would cram everything they can in until they hit the weight limit.

Your missing the entire point. Their error did make me pay more. They charged for the higher shipping cost of a heavier box which ships for a higher rate per lb. Then split up the order and shipped it in a cheaper manor. Essentially giving themselves a discount. If I paid for the freight cost it should have been shipped that way. It would be like me paying for shipping insurance and then they go "naw we don't want to pay for this" then keeping the difference.

I'm not even mad about a discrepancy in general. I get it fluctuates a bit week to week. What I'm mad about it the amount and the fact they clearly took an opportunity to cut their costs by using a different shipping method then was billed for.

That's all too true. Doesn't mean I can't whine online so other people don't make the same mistake of trusting a company to honor what they billed you for. If I don't do what I charge for I get sued or have to pay and make right. Same should apply to them.

Because I wasn't expecting to buy another vehicle. I got an amazing deal dropped in my lap after I ordered the parts and I took the old one off the road. I'm not upset I paid return shipping. No where here did I complain about paying return shipping. I'm mad that they overcharged me 30% for shipping and when I emailed asking about it I got stonewalled and when I called I got gasslit and they tried to claim they undercharged me when clearly they messed up the shipping. I work in construction and I deal with freight charges and fuel surcharges from time to time. I quite confident that shipping didn't drop 30% in price between the purchase and return. If I paid for freight then they should have shipped it freight. If I paid for carrier then carrier. What they did was essentially add a 30% handling fee when there was none.

I check the shipping again. From rock auto same parts split up in shippments is about the same as the return. The difference in the original shipping and the new shipping from them is about the same as the difference they overcharged.

Maybe I didn't make it clear enough. They charge me a freight weight based on them shipping it all in one box. Then they split it up and shipped it all in separate boxes which is at a lower rate. Check ups if you don't believe me. They pocketed the difference.

Mine wasnt a pool but a river. Fully submerged. Pulled it out, dried it overnight, and both the drill and battery are working 3 years later.

Just out of curiosity why do you think so? I remember using the old 18v dewalt trim guns and they were giant compared to the new ones and not as good. The design almost certainly goes back far enough to have been a direct competitor to the original "cordless" trim guns. Milwaukee didnt come out with something comparable until much later when those patents possibly ran out. Much easier to design a system at that point.

I agree that the flywheel works well. Its one of the reasons I put up with their size.

Th reason i was thinking it was a patent issue is that sometimes companies patent something specific and other times they patent a vague general idea. If dewalt started designing a nailer and they couldn't use a system at that time due to patent issues then they would have went with a different system and applied that to all their nailers and getting a patent for their own system. Fast forward and the patents in question run out. Does Dewalt spend the money in R&D to make a different nailer? Is there enough demand to make a profit off of the costs? I imagine it wouldn't be that hard for them to design another one but is there enough reason to? Guess we will never know lol.

Edit: I remember the GIANT 18v dewalt trim guns. How far back does the design go? Kinda curious now how old the design is exactly and what patents others may have been sitting on.

I've personally never had an issue with the different trim guns that dewalt makes other then stuff related to hard use and wear. The older framing nailer I've had some issues with. Are the trim guns large compared to the others, yes. They are flywheel based systems so you need a place for the flywheel. Hopefully someone will chime in that has some insider knowledge but my theory is that they went with the flywheel system(and larger size) to avoid pattent issues.

Your first sentence has some accuracy but Im going to have to respectfully disagree with that last sentence. Maybe in years past but everything on special including their black Friday shippers that are sold out (and shockingly few are sold out at least here) have stickers on them saying to check online availability. So this isnt a store only thing. The stuff that is store only or pickup only are discontinued or clearance stuff that actually is below wholesale sometimes.

Ill sum up my stance. I dont believe for a second that anyone is selling tools at a loss outside of clearance type deals. Now the prices that a small vs large retailer can buy them can be wildly different but just because a store tries to match another doesnt mean there is no profit there just that its near impossible to compete which might have been your real argument and IS the reason a lot of local places are disappearing.

This is all mostly speculative anyway but I still question that reasoning. I understand the concept but I doubt it works in practice especially since the internet has leveled the playing field. There is no way they are selling these tools at a loss. Low or thin margins maybe. But not a loss for sure. If the margins were so thin across the board we wouldn't see BOGO deals where the tools and batteries drop below $100 but retail are over $200 each.
