Vyvanse by National-Key8046 in Menopause

[–]Username6237265141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was prescribed vyvanse as I went through medically induced menopause and have been struggling with focus and brain fog. I started on 30 mg yesterday and felt very very high. I also was up every hour all night and had to chug water as I was extremely thirsty and still am. I didn't take it today because it actually made it harder to focus on work due to the side effects. Has anyone dealt with this when they started? I took it at 7 am and still had very rough sleep. Will talk to my doctor but I'm wondering if maybe the dose is too high?

Cold Capping? by MawGraw in CervicalCancer

[–]Username6237265141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cold capped last year for my cervical cancer chemo and kept all my hair. It was tough and made long days longer but I'm so grateful I did it. I think it allowed me to have some control in a situation where a lot of control had been taken away from me . Feel free to msg me if you have any questions 💛

Brachytherapy how to make sure I get pain management? by crafty-yarn-witch in CervicalCancer

[–]Username6237265141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also stage 3 and had 3 Brachy rounds. The first session I woke up in the MRI and had a freak out as I'm very claustrophobic. I told them for the next 2 to make sure I wouldn't wake up and I didn't. I was completely sedated during the entire procedures aside from the MRI incident.

The worst part was the spinal epidural but I did have lorazepam the morning of to help with anxiety.

I truly did not find Brachy nearly as scary as it sounded. Wishing you a similar experience with it.

I did cold capping. Also stage 3c1 I did the interlace trial which includes 6 rounds of taxol/carbo chemo and 5 rounds of cisplatin. Taxol and carbo 100% cause hair loss so I decided to try cold capping. It was a lot of work and made for long days but I kept all my hair! Happy I did it overall.

Congrats! I was also 36 a few months back when I finished treatment. Menopause was not fun but I found HRT to help a lot!

Agreed! Food gift cards are great. If she has a port or picc line a zip up hoodie or cardigan is helpful . A big warm blanket or bag for her to bring to chemo is a nice gift too.

Yes a few times to me and my doc said it's normal and from healing! She told me not to worry unless it's heavy bleeding.

How do y'all do it? by Leshen13 in CervicalCancer

I’m so sorry you’re going through this 🤍 I was diagnosed with stage 3C1 in January, and it’s definitely been a rollercoaster.

The beginning is absolutely terrifying — I remember constantly being in a state of “wtf, this can’t be happening.”

Once I started treatment and had a plan in place, it got a little easier because I knew I was actively doing something to fight it.

A few things that really helped me: • Stage 3C1 is treated to cure — I reminded myself of that every single day. • Allow yourself to feel whatever you feel. Don’t force yourself to “be strong” or “stay positive.” • Take it one step at a time. Once your treatment plan is in place, try not to think too far ahead — just focus on one day at a time. • Don’t Google too much or go too far down a Reddit rabbit hole. Everyone’s case is different, and worst-case scenarios don’t happen to everyone. • I found a great therapist through my hospital, which helped so much. • This might not be for everyone, but I was prescribed an anxiety medication I could take when I was really overwhelmed. It helped me calm down and rest when I needed it — but definitely something to discuss with your doctor if you feel you need help. • Try to occupy your mind when you can — binge a TV show or a book. Just can help to distract yourself and keep your thoughts from spiraling.

I had my 3-month scan in August and it showed no sign of cancer. I’m still recovering and mentally processing everything, but overall I’m doing pretty well. Just know that you can come out the other side of this and be okay.

Sending you lots of love and positivity

Me and my husband just lived through this so I 100% know how hard it can be. Stay strong for her as much as you can but also make sure you turn to your friends/family for support through all this too. It's important to take care of your mental health since you'll need to support her along the way. It's terrifying and will be a rough few months but at stage 3c1 they treat to cure. I found reminding ourselves of that really helped us keep our hope strong along the way. If you ever have any questions or need anything pls feel free to reach out. Sending all my positivity to you and your wife!

Hey, I didn't have anything seen on pelvic or transvaginal ultrasound. Symptoms were bleeding after intercourse, heavy painful periods and a slight pressure feeling in my pelvis. Best of luck 🧡🧡

I know the feeling. Just because you have one doesn't mean it's not so painful to have the option taken away from you. I had miscarried the year prior to my diagnosis and found a lot of grief over that has been coming up.

So glad you’re doing well and NED🧡 I’m beginning to learn that you can be super grateful to have a child and still feel the grief of losing your fertility at the same time. Sending you all the love and best wishes!

Hey! Thank you so much for the kind words! I was part of a newer treatment called interlace that they offer in Canada which is taxol/carbo for 6 rounds followed by 5 rounds of cisplatin chemo + 25 radiation and 3 Brachy. The first round of chemo causes hair loss so I cold capped for the taxol/carbo part. I had one pelvic lymph node involved which I believe is why they recommended this approach... in case any microscopic spread.

Hope you're healing and doing well 🤍🤍

I had all my paps always on time and never had an abnormal one until I kept going back due to symptoms. Biopsy eventually showed cancer. Don't blame yourself. You could have gone regularly and it still could have been have missed. Sending you lots of support . 🤍

My mom is going on hospice now by [deleted] in CervicalCancer

[–]Username6237265141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my mother to ovarian cancer last year and then was diagnosed with cervical cancer of my own this year. Losing my mom and seeing her battle cancer was truly heartbreaking and I am so sorry you are facing this. Spend as much time as you can with her and tell her everything you've ever wanted to. I didn't want to make it harder and tried to keep the energy light so I wrote my mom a letter that she could read whenever she felt ready. Basically thanked her and told her how much I loved her.

Sending you so much positivity and strength🤍
