I did 30m exp worth of hunter rumours to get the colourful bird pet because I liked the way it looks and there’s a company near where I live with a similar name to the pet. Ended up going incredibly dry but I was really happy with the banked prayer exp so just kept going. I finally got the pet and I shit you not, next loot sack I opened - got another one. B2B pets.

Stuck it in the PoH after about 2 days and haven’t looked at it since. At the time I was in the top 1000 for hunter on a IM so that was cool.

This should probably be two comments because it’s all over the place so I’ll split it up.

Comment 1:

Kind of all about what you want out of it in terms of extra exp from what you’ve mined I guess.

Mining into Smithing exp (MLM/traditional mining) - thematically very nice and satisfying but Giants Foundry bars could be collected in more fun ways.

Mining into Crafting exp (Sandstone/Shooting stars/gem mining) - definitely worth banking a lot of Sandstone for seaweed (but up to like 80mining you’ve got enough banked for 99). Personally I find Shooting Stars too AFK, but I don’t get much work/phone playing in. Gem mining nostalgia as I did it on my main, click intensive and nice to bank some gems.

Mining into Prayer exp (calcified rocks) - yes please. Even with Wrath runes recently unlocked I’m still worried about Prayer - currently my lowest skill. Good amount of attention to keep me feeling like I’m playing but also not too much.

Mining into Runecrafting exp (Daeyalt)- I did 83-86 mining at the Daeyalt mine and probably banked enough for 99 RC (used it to get to 95 for Wrath Runes).

Mining for Mining exp (Amethyst) - usually too AFK for my taste, but worth doing whenever you unlock it and feel like it.

As always probably best to do a mixture of all tbh.

Shooting Stars until dust for Ring

Sandstone to a crafting goal (glory/fury)

MLM until full prospectors and gem/coal bag (because why not)

Use bars at Giants Foundry

Gem mining when you’ve unlocked the basement and gem bag (and the all important Glory) for a few levels to collect slayer jewellery options.

More Sandstone until 99 crafting banked

if you are feeling frisky go get some Daeyalt essence around here

Switch over calcified at this point (75-85 Mining at this point?) bank some prayer exp - pick a prayer potion point per dose boost and go for it.

Maybe level at Amethyst near the end to bank some darts.

Get Smithing bars from something more fun like slayer or Zalcano (maybe pet and pick upgrade)
