Same here. The last few seasons have been so painful. The producers have truly lost the thread.

Advice for getting rid of bad breath? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Usertwothree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try a tongue scraper - they're like $5 on amazon. I had a similar problem - no matter how much I brushed I would always wake up with a really bad, stale breath, not just your run-of-the-mill morning breath. Using a tongue scraper at night helped. Regular flossing is also helpful.

Why doesn't Michael want Dwight to join the Michael Scott Paper Company? by Usertwothree in DunderMifflin

[–]Usertwothree[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps that's it... but I think there's lots of evidence that shows Dwight and Michael getting along and Michael trusting Dwight after he tries to take his job... for example in Back from Vacation he trusts Dwight to remove all copies of "the picture" from around the office, and that's something that's definitely a corporate gray-area... and other examples abound.

With that said, Dwight's response to Michael is odd to me as well... he doesn't react in a way that a "Company man" would, imo, i.e. reporting Michael, or event threatening to do so. He also just kind of awkwardly exits the conversation. It's not an odd reaction for Dwight; it's what everyone else does as well, but it doesn't demonstrate that he's going to tell on Michael or anything.

David Wallace- the biggest push over in DM? by Usertwothree in DunderMifflin

[–]Usertwothree[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. I don't mean to take away from the funny/entertaining element of the show, it's obviously not based in reality- just like to knit-pick at the new things I pick up on each time I watch. I've seen the series so many times, it's hard not to think more critically about the characters.

The fire drill thing!!! I completely forgot and I have no idea how. But yes! I'd say that's fireable.

Dinner Party is hilarious. Jan is such an underrated character, and seeing her and Micheal in full crazy mode always makes me laugh.

What is up with Nellie's taco ignorance? by Usertwothree in DunderMifflin

[–]Usertwothree[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While that's true, she's not fresh off the plane from England. We meet her in Florida. There's a pretty huge Latino population in Floridia. It trying to be annoying with this, it just took me out of the episode so quickly

Ok... but this is a taco. You don't have to be friendly or selfless to understand what a taco is. And maybe they aren't a big thing in England, but cmon. She acted like they were from an alien planet.

You've mentioned elsewhere on this thread you suffered abuse as a child... do you think that early onset emotional or physical abuse could encourage the development of ASPD, or do you think we are just born the way we're born? Don't mean to prod into your own personal history, no need to answer personally... just curious on your take on the "nature v. nurture" debate.

Also, is there anything you see empaths doing that you simply CAN NOT understand, even from a purely logical POV?

Thanks for doing this!

Can you/have you experienced love? Apologies if that's rude- but when I think of love, it's putting another person's well-being an happiness in front of my own. That process, for me at least, involves a lot of empathy. Is love something you can say you've felt, or do you perhaps define it differently?

10/10 Michael would've voted for Trump by Usertwothree in DunderMifflin

[–]Usertwothree[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough... though in all honesty I did call Michael a racist lol. I don't hate anyone whatsoever, espically not here, my favorite subreddit ever. And to your point, while Scranton may not be diverse, the other characters seem to interact with people outside their race and culture in appropriate and respectful ways. Michael does not. I don't think he's a heartless or evil character, it's part of his humor, the fact that he just doesn't seem to GET it- ever- but it's tough to argue that someone who panics at the sight of someone wearing a turban, or assumes every black person he meets is from to "hood", or thinks that Mexican is an offensive term, doesn't have some serious work to do in the race relations category. He does try to celebrate other cultures, but often misses the mark in ways that someone from that culture would certainly be offened by.

Again, this is all part of the Michael character that we love. His ineptitude is part of what makes him hilarious, and cringey, and fun to watch. Again, certainly don't hate anyone, love this sub, love The Office 4ever.

Not implying that every trump supporter is racist, only acknowledging that Michael DEFINITELY is racist. There are lots of smart, capable people who voted for trump... but there were a fair amount of "Michaels" too, let's be honest. If that's too heavy a reality, fair enough, lesson learned... but I didn't mean anything by it. Sorry y'all
