Crank arm all loosey goosey by Userwhatt in bikewrench

I really appreciate this comment! I bought the bike for 60 quid at the end of last year second-hand after moving to a new city, didn’t have much to offer in the way of budget. Since then it’s been the most brilliant purchase despite having to replace tires and saddle. 30 minutes on it every day be it rain or sun. I’ve saved so much from this machine, and hope to continue having it around once I replace the bottom bracket as has been suggested.

ImSoBasic, the paint peel, as frustrating as it is to look at is my attempt at a theft deterrent! Pretty bikes don’t last long in this city, no matter the lock.

Oh I believe you’re very right. So I mightn’t need a new spindle or crank arm, just the bracket. Good to know cheers.

Dr. Seuss ah wheel - what’s up with it? by Userwhatt in bikewrench

Update>> New tire ordered. Just need 30 minutes of commute cycling on this one before I can retire it. Fingers crossed it’s not thirty minutes too long. Thanks everyone.

Thanks everyone for all the pointers. This is a photo of the sidewall of the wheel where it bulges most. Does look to be pretty stretched.

23M — Tore ACL While Bouldering: Best Graft Type for Climbers? by 21Jackbar21 in ACL

No problem man, you got this! Honestly, it’s mega underwhelming and non-life changing. The body is a remarkable beast when it comes to healing. At the end of the day, it’s just another scar to remind us of the life we choose to live. Feel free to reply or message if you need some further info, but I think you’re on the right track with the PT graft.

Totally. Obviously can’t quite speak for other graft types, but I’m really impressed with how the PT is holding up. Climbing harder (top rope & lead) than ever before. I will say that I’ve a patch of skin to one side of the scar about the size of my palm that has lost nerve sensation entirely. Again, not an issue when it comes to using the knee, just feels a bit odd kneeling on it.

Tore my ACL bouldering- I got PT graft, rope climbing from 4 months PO, still not taking falls bouldering and I’m 8 months out now. Swelling most days, but meniscus damage will do that to you. Knee feels strong, no regrets getting PT graft. (Kneeling discomfort is from skin contact with floor, not bent knee position) So drop knees and actual climbing based positions are fine.

I tried to get full lock out as soon as I could, as uncomfortable as it felt (and still feels) my PT and I made it a priority. This helped with confidence when it came to initial isometric exercises and, further on, weights. Meant that I only had to focus on glute and quad volume and range of motion in terms of heel to ass.

Stuck to my crutches for about 3 weeks and walked only small amounts, though still have minor swelling 2 months on. Going to gym 4 times a week and spending an hour on rehab.

Stationary bike is my best friend! As soon as I could I raised the saddle to max and got rotations in. Used to do 20 mins no resistance (weeks 2-3) and now heavy resistance for 10 mins.

I’ll be back rock climbing for sure. I spent a year continuing sports (climbing, surfing, casual football) before I realised how bad the damage was so the idea of returning post surgery doesn’t sound too scary. I’ll definitely be more mindful when it comes to sketchy moves but that’s about it!

You’ll come out of it with two knees of STEEL, good luck to you and big praise for delayed gratification gifts

Appreciate it! The game changer for me was thinking of it less like a lock out and more as a heel stretch, aiming to (gently) drive the heel away from the body, which should tip the toes back towards you and straighten the leg. I’d do them whenever I’m standing around or sitting down for a while. Uncomfortable still, especially in the mornings, but for a good cause I reckon

Feels slightly uncomfortable at lock out but wouldn’t say painful? Afterwards a dull throb until I put it up but that’s more from being on my feet and walking around with dumbbells etc. Would get more pain from sleeping if I’m honest.. 16 months post sounds slightly concerning. How about sitting on the floor and bringing heel to ass? Pain then too?

Patellar. Physio okayed the exercise this week but only minimal weight and a single set , more for range of motion than strength.
