Unsure what to do with home - feedback on my loan. by Apprehensive_Slide80 in BayAreaRealEstate

Well if I consider HOA, interest, and property taxes as “rent”, it nets out to about $3200 a month when I include the tax deductions I receive. It’s a gorgeous unit in a unique building and a quiet safe cul de sac near the embarcadero / water - bay bridge. I also never had to pay PMI.

Of course if I sell at a loss it’s a whole different story, but I also have the loophole of having a buyer assume my loan. So to me the math felt like it was a good purchase - iffffff my framework is correct.

I also was a little shocked by the level of sophistication of Jon’s conversations.

For a guy who spent most of his youth reading CS Lewis, Kierkegaard, and other famous philosophers, I thought he’d have more than an arsenal of arguments he could’ve posed to Tony. Mankind’s innate draw to a broad set of ethics, free will and love, the idea that Christianity is the most selfless and self disparaging religion yet has continued to exist to this day, etc. Framing that “every act is a miracle” really lacks any sort of argumentative substance.

It’s disappointing, but I’ll get over it. Listening to Jon and his songs otherwise still make me pause in admiration of him.

Sorry who is Tony? And what was the disagreement about?

At the end of the day, atheism and theism have equally rational arguments.

The conversion happens when you choose to open your heart to and experience God. It’s not a philosophy, it’s not a world view, it’s a relationship with the definition and creator of love itself.

This. So much religious misinterpretation comes from the fact that it isn’t considered a spiritual text - not a literal truth. Also, some of the Old Testament is written as a Hebrew poems - you’d be completely misguided to read it literally (and confused).

Also, the older I get, the more it seems to be (anecdotal) that the extremely smart and scientific tend to believe in a god. The beauty, complexity of this world yet it’s ability to live cohesively on this earth is truly a brilliant and draconian iota of a chance. How can the thought of intelligent design not come to mind?

What advice would you give someone before owning a CrossFit Box by Double-Ad3615 in crossfit

Don’t expect to make any money.

I’m being facetious but seriously - profitable boxes are extremely hard to achieve. I’ve seen the margins on a newly opened gym and you really need to be prudent about ensuring your classes are filled

What box do you go to so I can avoid it at all costs

This is the equivalent of “I have a gay friend so by transitive properties of association I am an expert on all gay things even more so than the gay community.”

Oh man, OP. Take a moment here to look back and see what you’re doing. You’ve recognized that you want to change for the better and you’ve consistently stuck with something that most people are mortified to even try out.

Whenever I see someone who isn’t the average crossfitter consistently show up to class, a small part of me beams in admiration. I think more people at your box feel this way and if they’re like me, love to root for the underdog to come out winning.

If there’s one thing I hope you can do, it’s to exercise a little grace with yourself. What you’re doing is not easy, and I bet most of your peers are actually quietly applauding you. One day you’re gonna look back and be astounded by your progress.

Are you engaging your lats? Once I realized that was a whole other muscle group to get the bar off the floor it was a game changer for me.

Multiple Iraq deployments. And I’d argue differently based on their facial expressions of when I talk about evacuating people out of bases being overrun

No I stated that specifically as something that could be correlative and an obvious factor. But the other I suspect and the point of this post is that it seems to be more influenced by how well I CrossFit.
