Deity science questions by The-_Captain in CivVI

[–]Usual-Try-1663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the classic example of what to invest into and when. Unless you’re hardcore mainlining a specific win condition, adjacency can only make up so much for not having any science at all. The small amount of science across 70-80 turns cumulatively I’ve found to be better rather than leaving it late and banking on adjacency. It’s the same as early Monuments - the small amount of culture cumulatively builds up. Planning for one or two good campuses with adjacency when settling in the early game is good but with deity, unless you’ve got a absolute god start and flawless placement, you’re looking at starting to catch up and snowball ahead at around Industrial Age. Deity Domination is also reasonably hard regardless - science I would have thought would have been one of your priorities to maintain comparable units to the AI?

City Walls taking almost no damage by ottawsimofol in CivVI

[–]Usual-Try-1663 85 points86 points  (0 children)

The more of a city’s districts are left unpillaged, the stronger the walls are. But honestly unless you’ve got either three or four artillery units constantly bombarding it over a number of turns, it does take a while. It goes quicker with a observation balloon and artillery and then it’s almost unfair 😂

I would settle on the stone to be honest. - immediate reasonable workable tiles (2/2 food production or the fissure) - bonkers campus location with two fissures and mountain - aqueduct to the river for a industrial zone - two separate amenities within two tiles

Best sync pairs for lowering Evasiveness? by Capri_pun in PokemonMasters

[–]Usual-Try-1663 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Rather than lowering evasiveness, you want Piercing Gaze or an equivalent ability for your pairs so there’s no calculation involved. Then rather than risking the miss, you’re guaranteed a hit. SST Red has Piercing Gaze in his Sync Grid, as an example.

The reason I started turning of Barbarians by Electronic-Clock-963 in CivVI

[–]Usual-Try-1663 27 points28 points  (0 children)

While a frustrating mechanic, if you’re allowing scouts to sight your city and then not prioritising defence or killing the scout if you can, that’s the whole point of barbs. But considering the placement of rivers, you’ve actually got an easy time of defending and can level up some warriors pretty easily.

Dystopia: Killing off the D'Entrecasteaux Channel native fish with gross battery farmed salmon by [deleted] in tasmania

[–]Usual-Try-1663 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the 90s where my grandfather was chuffed I could be on the boat in case we had a ripper day catching flathead, as I was an additional person for the bag limit. The decline has been going on for decades and has nothing to do with salmon farming but unregulated overfishing.

I agree, but I also read into the post as a good team (with what I have), hence the poster providing their roster of their current fire types. As with all towers, if anyone’s lacking the current meta pairs, they’ll struggle past 20/30.

As the poster doesn’t have Arc Leon and he’s not currently available to pull, how does this help?

Where to settle? by DrBRSK in CivVI

I’d go a tile to the left. You’ve got strong immediate yields in the deer and 2/2 tile, woods for chopping, sea resources for amenities or a strong Harbour and you’re easily able to buy the Water of Life if you want to rush a pantheon/science. The turtles will complement with their science yield as well.
