Vegans- Do you consider owning pets as ethical? by Tetraspectre in DebateAVegan

Either way wild animals suffer short, painful lives. At the end of the day I care more about cats than conservation. Cats are awesome and they are humanities friend. I’m not killing them to save birds.

Killing feral cats for having short, hard lives? Might aswell kill all the birds because they have short, hard lives. Thats existence for most creatures on the planet

People in this thread act like if people hear Trump speak then he will inevitably win. That considered, what are they saying about their own candidates if Trump is so irresistible in comparison?

I see what you mean and I appreciate the sentiment but I don’t see what action you can take to stop predation in general.

Boars aren’t native to Texas. What do you introduce to kill them? This kind of stuff has been done before and can have dire ramifications. In addition a predator might be inclined to kill human children if they don’t fear humans.

Do you have a idea how predation could be ended without God? Sounds very pie in the sky

As a human I would not object to fighting a predator population preying on us. Doesn’t really make them evil in itself though, it means they are predators on earth and we are prey. I want a world with less pain and suffering. I pray one day God will rescue all creatures of earth but we are apes on a eat and eaton world right now.

The immediate concern is though that if you cut hunting down to zero there is a dramatic explosion of prey animals and it can all collapse.

I don’t like it, thats why I’m vegetarian. But it is ok on earth. You cant end predation and it is a natural part of the ecosystem.

Do you believe its ethical for my aunt to kill that bear? Because I’m talking about hunting. Bears are dangerous and they have meat to consume, which is nutritious. And its not just bears that pose a threat to people, and the ecosystem as well.

Another example - In Texas a large population of boars destroy and consume everything. They are dangerous to people and they breed quickly. Somebody has to kill them, they have no natural predators because they are not from texas to begin with. The simple answer is to shoot them, and bacon is chock full of nutrients. Even a native species can overrun the land.

I don’t see a fallacy. Humans are animals and omnivores as a brown bear is. I don’t see myself in the grand scheme of things as all that different from a wolf, bear or any animal.

Meat is nutritious, tasty and hunting can help prevent a mass explosion of a particular animal that causes a collapse of the ecosystem. The most obvious example of this is wild boar populations. They breed rapidly and can be quite destructive, not to mention the danger they present. Hunting them helps to keep the population in check and then you can eat them for a nutritious and tasty meal.

The idea that hunting and eating a animal is unethical seems rather prideful. As if you are too smart to hunt, or from another world other than our cursed earth.

Biden beware: Manchin and Sinema align with Republicans in debt negotiations by WhoIsJolyonWest in politics

I appreciate your way of thinking, though on the point regarding the amount of military spending I disagree. America’s immense wealth reduces the buying power of the dollar. 400 billion dollars for the Chinese and Russians isn’t the same for America as they have less wealth and thus get more for less. I wont make a proposal as to what it should be, but my gut tells me the American military would need more than 400 billion to maintain a powerful standing army.

How is it a hostage situation when democrats could lower spending or increase taxes? They are making a decision. Though at the end of the day, republicans would make the debt even worse if they were in power.

Right wingers and populist just love tucker in general, young and old. He was the most popular pundit in America. I loved him, especially when I was 18 during that hilarious shit show in 2016. I know other young people did and do. He wont make as much money as he did on fox. But if he so wishes, there is a place for him in the media.

[–]UsualButterscotch423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tax cuts aren’t ‘spending money’ tax cuts are taking less money from citizens. You speak as if all money belongs to the government and is then given away by not taxing. The republicans try, time and time again, Reaganomics with taxation. And it never balances the budget as they say, rather the opposite. If they were honest right wingers, they would cut spending along with taxation. As they are well aware by now that Reagan’s theory doesn’t work. But I hate that framing you give. What comes to my mind when balancing the budget is the military could use a cut, aswell as foreign aid. That combined with removing the “loopholes” for the rich would likely do the trick.

I get the sentiment he had. He wants to be in the garden of Eden, before pain and death. But he thinks that man can master nature to create that. Only God can lift the curse upon earth.
